Did he body search you when you arrived back?

How many of those coins did you really have secreted on you?
Thinking is dangerous, it makes you think. That\'s why many people avoid it.

robbiegal

oh gee
i might try that one - I just might become more motivated to go out to source the evil Olympic coins from woolies

nah i was honest and coughed up the two coins
a bit tardy by today mind you - the coins that is

I thought the dieters'spoon might attract some interest ??? or my parrot tourist spoon

gotta love going out for coloured coins ha ha

trout

I am sorry Fulvio But I just can't seem to take these coloured $2 coins seriously , To me they are pretty much 'Novelty" coins.
The Avarice ,The Envy and the rampant Skulduggery that  erupts every single time that these things are produced sickens me pretty much to the core.
They seem to have the ability to bring out the worst in people and I find that quite distasteful and distressing.
The ease in which these can be doctored by the unscrupulous is the reason why I would treat any "error" with suspicion and distrust.

Give me a spew roo, Clip, clash or a Mule any day over some missing paint error :ok:
Aim well to enjoy life. You only get One shot at it.

robbiegal

give me a parrot tourist spoon and dieters spoon anyday ha ha
more colour more good vibes and more fun

ausjack

maybe if you lick the dieters spoon before putting it in your sugar is the go :winkextra:

robbiegal

ha ha
isn't it fab??

i tried on a dress at the op-shop and it was a tad tight so I was busy telling the ladies how I need to lose weight
than i had a look see in the tourist spoon bin after watching antiques road show and seeing silver spoons worth around 10 thousand quids - just in case one was in the bin

and here's a dieters spoon - how coincidental!!

all in a grand day out to get Olympic coins from woolies mind you

the hubby has a gawdy blue and red parrot in the study so I had to get the kitch parrot spoon - i think that I it much more than he does!! - the parrot is in the Olympic coin first and third issue colours - red and blue

i'm on topic guys - before you gong me

So you're a spoon collector, eh?

You probably have some of my ex's work then.

I came home one day about 30 years ago to find her painting away on some 3 or 4 inch wooden rounds. "Wotcha doin'?" I asked. To which she said "I ran into this guy who makes all those tourist spoons, and he offered to pay me $50 for each design I paint". She did hundreds while we were together, and for all I know she's still at it.

Most amazingly talented and smartest person I ever met.. pity she had absolutely zero common sense to go with it. :(

robbiegal

nah
i never collect spoons
they are somewhat tacky and take up a lot of room

but these two spoons were so totally kitch and sort of fitted in with the Olympic theme -
australian parrot
red and blue - parrot - red and blue olympic coins
spoon with a hole , well nothing Olympic but the Gods of fashion were telling me how to lose that kilo to make that new 'up-cycled' David Lawrence dress a perfect fit ha ha

your ex sounds very creative  and artistic, $50 a spoon is good money if she was  a fast painter   - although i couldn't image a much worse job! ahh yes I could , my job , no wait , spoon painting takes first place

Yeah. Artistic, mechanical whiz, able to write microcode for a bit-slice computer with a 256-bit wide control store (DEC's VAX series minicomputers used 96-bits, to give you an idea of relative complexity), drive a truck, buy an offset press, teach herself how to print, and produce our club newsletters for 3 years, design and build a house following the bushfires, whip up a full set of costumes for our medieval-themed engagement overnight (she got the idea from an episode of Moonlighting), and so on and so forth.

But, absolutely NO common sense whatsoever. She left a brand new $700 brushcutter in the blackberries when the phone rang, and it was still there rusting away 9 months later. And many, many similar fiascos. :(

Mind you, she was still better than the two who followed. ;)

the purity of genius doesn't come with perfection you know
she sounds creative, expressive and spontaneous

i am sure that you both made a magical pair when it was going well

Yeah, I do know. And yes, it was awesome. Until a car crash opened her skull up and she changed. :(

I was Henry VIII, she was maid Marion, and the kids were pageboys.

We also had Friar Tuck, Redbeard the Pirate (both sadly departed and sorely missed), a suitably inbred French courtier, buxom saucy wenches, and a plethora of others. Pity she got all the pics, or I'd scan and post them.

Ah, but I'm threadjacking again, aren't I? :dodgy:

fabulous story

sorry about the car accident - i see that in my work all the time  - very sad indeed

perhaps the spoon painting was the best job for just the right gal afterall
& i'll stick to hospital work for the moment

maybe we should start a rob and fulvio late night chat thread ?

your stories are very colourful - you could write a book

Fulvio

That's been suggested many times over the years. But nobody would believe any of it. :dodgy:

Heh, if we started such a thread, it would instantly attract undesirables. You know the sort, from the wilds of WA and northern NSW. ;)
