Just to drag things back to the topic...

One of the guys at the MNS meeting had a 'missing paint' olympic coin he got from Woolies.

He got it a couple of days ago, from the service desk at Forest Hill, along with some yellows.

I had a good look at it, and pointed out that given that its a black, it can't have come out of a mint bag with the yellows. Most likely a customer brought it back and spent it after 'testing' some acetone or other paint stripper on it.

However, it IS in UNC condition, so there is a slight possibility it came out of the mint that way. Just impossible to tell, given the lack of provenance.

Given that I reseal my bags with reject coins, and its pretty much undetectable, I wouldn't ever bid on such a thing.

oh seriously
so someone could have done that

very norti if they did

i still can't figure out how it's an error bag
i have seen people question the actual numbers in the  coronation $2 bags as they show up with elders and i have never seen them called error bags

trout

On eBay and Facebook anything is possible, Stupid people abound on both sites and the Sharks love to take advantage of this :dodgy:
I am just waiting for the "error" 5 coin set with all the same coloured coins in it or maybe an Elder coin thrown in there for good measure :dash1:

Coronations were deliberately seeded into bags of standards. They averaged about 3 coronations per bag, based on my five sacks.

At this stage, are we even sure there ARE 2016 standards around? And even if there are, I can't see one getting into the olympic production line.

Of course, I'd happily change my mind if it had rings painted on it. Now THAT would be a genuine error!

I am just waiting for next week so that I can get the last Green coins so that I can fire some of these off to a couple of Mates that don't have access to Woollies :)
I think that the multi coloured Parra Olympic coin will be the Star of the show for this batch of coins and I am just going to order these from the RAM shop so that I can go back to using IGA exclusively :)

Yeah, me too. Then I can start trying to trade bags. At the moment, I'm short 3 bags of black, but who knows what will happen with greens? I could end up 5 down on those. *shrug*

As for the paralympics, I agree they'll be the pick of the crop. Assuming they didn't stuff them up too much of course. They could look awesome, or they could look like total crap. :/

With the amount of these coloured $2 coins being produced they are starting to become a bit "Meh" to me now.
The first red poppy and the next purple coin added a bit of "excitement" to the mix but now they are becoming a bit lax lustre I think.

Yes there's been quite a few and on a few denominations now so the novelty is wearing off :whistle2:

Even though it didn't make it into the pond I think my favourite aussie one is the 2012 50 cent and the worst was the 2013 20 cent pond scum but my world fav so far is the kiwi anzac, now that's a nice coin.

You're looking at it all wrong, fishboy...

These are the most 'biodegradable' coins ever released into circulation. Forget about pristine 50-year old coins showing up in your change, these things won't make it into their teens.

And working on the assumption they're not going to let go of the cash cow, you can expect them to just keep on coming. Which will create demand for the early ones down the track.

Nobody EVER went wrong putting away UNC coins. Worst case scenario is they cost you the foregone bank interest. Which is two-tenth's of F&%*-All anyway. Best case.. well, you saw the thousand-dollar bags of poppies I take it?
