If the guesstimates are anywhere near close, 4000 to 10000 coins.

The rest will show up in baggies in due course, and be impossible to find UNC, naturally.

Hate to disappoint you there RUNWAY but Peter Strich is still operating as I was there only last week.

The latest is that they vacate premises towards mid-late September but earlier if they can sell their present residence and move to Queensland into their already purchased home.

These are not RAM rolled coins

And who says they are not "RAM rolled coins"?

Before there is a real bunfight, I have sent this day and email to the RAM asking if they did the rolls or if they didn't, who did.

Before any more dirt is thrown about can we wait for a response from the RAM.

Precisely. What a dumb assertion, based on what? The lack of a few words on the wrapper?

RAM produced the coins.
RAM owns rolling machines
RAM produces rolls of other coins
RAM handed out the rolls

Where in any of this is there any basis for saying they're not RAM rolls? They could have been plain paper, and still be RAM rolls. Just like the plain Armaguard rolls are Armaguard rolls even if they don't say so.

Heck, even in the unlikely event they were rolled by someone else, they're STILL RAM rolls, in the same way coins produced by foreign mints are still australian coins.

I agree, imho these are ram rolls
if chubb or armaguard rolled them then I would say mint security rolls
but I think that ram knew what they were doing when they did this.

*shrug* It's UNLIKELY that the RAM rolled them.  They didn't roll the branded collector 20c / $1 rolls (like the Wills and Kate 20c rolls) but rather sent the wrappers and coins out to a third party.  I remember at the time of the issue of the Australian Day 50c rolls the RAM saying they didn't have the rolling machines to be able to do it themselves.  I'd very much doubt that situation has changed just to make a few hundred rolls to sweeten a deal with RAM distributors.  But what is important here isn't actually WHO rolled the coins but rather that these rolls are official RAM product.  Which they clearly ARE.

see I don't understand this attitude. is it a bad thing to want an asset you enjoy to appreciate in value or does everything need to reduce in value for you not to be considered greedy?
I spend hours looking at, sorting, grading, properly storing, learning about and sourcing coins many of which people believe have no value (eg the many hours I spending noodling change/notes at banks)
I do this because I enjoy it and after all is said and done I would like to pass on a collection of coins to my children that can set them up for life or provide a safety net if they need it.
I don't intend to leave them a collection of worthless shiny metal objects that I have wasted money on.

I'd go along with serial on this.

Let me give you an example that may just change your thinking...

You know I'm into Dogecoin. Somewhat of a fan you could say. Heck, I just put a ton of work into the Dogecoin Foundation, and for a few hours I *was* the foundation.

Now, a funny thing has been happening. Because of the accelerated mining schedule and some internal conflicts, no matter what we've been doing, the price has been falling pretty consistently for a couple of months. Now, everybody knows that in six months or so the mining will pretty much stop creating new coins, and all the work being done will increase demand.

But people are infused with doom and gloom, and are selling off at a loss, for bargain basement prices. Why? Because they see no value, and no prospects of value. So they're moving on elsewhere, be it Bitcoin, another altcoin, or completely out of the field.

Ultimately, the value of anything is completely a matter of desire for it. There is no intrinsic value. If everybody wants oil, the price will go up to the maximum level they are prepared to pay. The same goes for cryptocurrencies, precious metals, water, food, clean air and hugs. Well, maybe not hugs.

We collect little bits of paper and metal. We obsess about condition, which means the ones we value most are the ones which least perform their primary function. A proper coin is a used coin is a worn coin is a worthless coin. Conversely a perfect coin is an untouched coin is a completely worthless means of exchange, because using it devalues it in our eyes.

Why would anyone pay $100 for $20 worth of silver? But they do. Why would anyone pay tens of thousands for a penny? Or hundreds for a dollar?

These things have value because we say they do. Because we are prepared to pay more than the price printed or stamped on every one. And the harder something is to get, the more we'll pay.

In five years time, I KNOW my dogecoins will be worth more than I'm buying them for now. In five years time I also KNOW that almost any of the shinies I can buy from my friendly coin dealer will be worth less than I'd pay for them now. And you know that too.

So where's the incentive to buy this junk? Why do so many people do so? And why, when something truly unique comes along, even if its a piece of paper wrapped around a handful of coins, would that be any less desirable or worthy of discussion than anything else we talk about?

Note that I'm not arguing that greed is good. Because I don't think it is. But the desire for gain, in any currency, be it fiat, crypto, reputation, love, comfort or any other thing we crave, is not only natural, it is also a fundamental part of what makes us who we are. You can't deny such a basic instinct.

Why get rid of this thread?

Information is being exchanged for all to be educated.

Just because someone mentions that these rolls of coins are well over $100 per roll doesn't mean we are greedy.

Information is just being passed on and this thread should remain.
