Thanks for the pics AC.

I wonder why / when they decided to "roll their own" again?

Rather glad they did ...... sure beats rolling around in a 44 gal drum!
(Drum, roll your own ..... ok, best I could do).

Australian coin

there wasn't many rolls made, a few hundred, between Melbourne and Sydney.
number are unknown, someone said 200 rolls, and then heard 500
but there is expected to be 1 million in general circulation
knowing armguard they will hold onto them for a while before releasing them

these rolls were made just for dealers, to get on the good side after not getting a allocation of any Victoria cross ballot coins to them

they mint are not expected to go back into rolling coins again this was a one time thing

Wow AC!

Geez ..... I couldn't have cracked it!

so do you think these have potential to be $1k items one day?
that's only $50 a coin

nope, like all things I see a rush then it will level out

If they go like almost every other decimal that has actually increased in value over issue then you'll see all the value increase in the first few weeks or perhaps a month because of the shark like feeding frenzy of profiteers.  Once the chance of an easy buck disappears the heat will drop out of the market and those left holding the "baby" will be unwilling to sell them for less than the exorbitant prices they paid for them.  From that time they'll stay flat and eventually drop backwards when people realise they've made a dud "investment".  I give you the VC dollar and the 2007 Ashes PNC's, and World Heritage PNC as examples.

With a mintage of 1,000,000 they will be scarce NOT rare.
I think the Silver proof 25mm MOR coins have a far better chance of becoming the Rarities in the future along with some of the other low mintage silver proofs.

The rarity will be in the 20 coin ROLLS in mint condition and not the individual coin.

I received mine basically at face value and I shall be holding on to them for quite a while.

If, in years to come I am still alive and need money then I might consider selling off some of these "later rarities" to help the funds to live on.

I would concur regarding the loose coins, definitely. However the rolls are significant, as they are the last of the RAM rolls, at least for now.

I see them being cracked open for stag profits, as loose coins will sell for more than rolls in the short term. Then when the million hit the streets, it will be too late to go back, and the few remaining should hold their value nicely.

This is completely off topic, but I don't think that any decimal collectable coin deliberately released by the mint will ever be "rare".  Can you name more than 2 or 3 supposedly "rare" or "scarce" decimal collectables that you can't just go and buy right now?  The only one that springs immediately to mind to me is the heritage set.

I will not disagree with your comments markn but you are hinting at the heritage set, that is more than one coin.   I think I could name that the 2013 "M" Counterstamp 50c piece would be scarce to rare and couldn't be secured at the moment.   (From the World Stamp and Coin Expo here in Melbourne last year).   Considering less than 7,500 were made.

I think the discussion here is about a single coin, namely the 2014 Kangaroo coin.   Although the coin may not become valuable in years to come but I am sure a RAM Roll of them will become valuable.

It has already been stated that these RAM rolls are a one off and how long ago did the RAM cease to produce Rolled coin?

I will come back in 20 years time and try and prove what I have said above.   Hehehe

Not rare at all.  There's at least two on eBay right now.  So if I wanted one I could have one.  And the prices are LESS than what the prices were within a week after the stamp expo.

Uh.  2011?  They did 3 different coins in rolls in 2011 I think.  Not exactly ancient history.
