Fulvio

Which is probably the reason for the long serial number.

And yes, I could open it without breaking the seal. I won't, cos I won't be buying any, but just saying.

There is only one of those and Cotton & Co. don't have it.

I think that what Mr Cotton and his cohorts are doing is disgraceful and it is nothing more that a cheap Con trick.
It can only end up in tears for these new and ill informed collectors that are buying the "Products" in the long run.

Yes, it's quite unique and complex Meh...canism.

I heard on the blockchain that there will be an update to it soon which will allow it to produce rolls of virtual currency.

Ah right, I thought they were only distributed in a card, not in change too.

Yup. Can hardly wait. :)

Seriously though, the 'collector modifications' would be to stop the end scrapes Armaguard are legendary for. It would be a combination of alignment and distance of the prongs and the speed at which they'd run it.

I see plenty of end scrapes. Frustrating when it is, otherwise, a really nice coin.
And Armaguard (I only see their rolls here) seem to be experts at loose rolls that shed coins. Quite common to get a bulk bag with a high percentage of loose coins.
However that could also be down to how the delivery staff handle the bags -I have seen them literally toss them out of the truck onto the footpath!

they might appeal to a customer cohort that will continue to subscribe to new issues?
here are the artist's impressions - not the actual roll - the teaser pre-release as they are apparently a bit behind release time timeframes or something

LooseChange

Would people of been interested in equivalent rolls to these if produced by the mint?

Yes I imagine that they would and I doubt that RAM would have put a more than 3x face cost on them either.
They would also be a Legitimate collectable and not simply a backyard offering.

I like how they're "certified" but by who and what qualifications do they have to certify them..that's like going to your mechanic for a sick certificate, it's not worth the paper it's written on as they're not a Dr :dodgy:

I'm not sure but would think the mint would be qualified to say if they put coins into rolls that they were their rolls as they did for many years but when a backyarder does it it doesn't seem right. It would be like me starting up a TPG company and only have me grading the coins, it would be pretty dodgy to say the least because by rights I should have a couple of others doing it as well so it's a general consensus on a coin and not just one persons view that could be bias or manipulated in other ways if enough money passes hands.

SULLA

If  you zoom in on these rolls they are not very cleanly rolled at all.

Methinks this is really a backyard job, not even utilising a rolling machine!

Y'know, for someone dead-set against Packyboxyitis, you sure seem to have come down with a massive dose, mate. Its bloody reminiscent of your backflip on slabbing.. :dodgy:

Emotive language aside, and also leaving aside the question of ridiculous pricing, we're talking about bits of paper. Whether they're wrapped around a bunch of coins by RAM, Armaguard, Prosegur, Cotton or Blind Freddy, it makes nil difference.

Its.....
.......JUST......
...................Paper!

:dodgy:

The only aspect which would in any way be potentially illegitimate is if the contents of the rolls were not what they purported to be. And I've seen no hint that that might be the case. There is the question of credibility and reputation, and nobody is going to be stupid enough to destroy both for a small handfull of dollars.

So sorry but the 'backyard' thing just won't wash.
