Sorry but it is not the warpping that is being sold.
What is being sold are allegedly UNC coins in a black wrapper with a hologram.

Why add a hologram?
Well holograms have been appearing on more and more products in the recent years.
e.g.
Computer software
Hard drives
Pharmaceuticals
and a host of other products which are trying to convince the consumer that what they have purchased is genuine and not a fake, copy etc.

So why would a company "hologram" a paper roll of Olympic coins?

Perhaps to add "authenticity", (autneticity to what?), perhaps to increase the "perceived" value of the item.

Under current circumstances (imo) the only reason a hologram would be added  would be to "add" some perceived value to an unremarkable  product being offered to an unsophisticated  potential buyer.

The possibilty of fraud escalates here. Why? Well if I open the hologrsmmed roll I will lose that "preceived" value why I?

Oh! It has a hologram therefore it must be genuine.

Genuine what?

Snake oil salesmen are here because no-one is selling "wrapping"; the actual product is that which is wrapped and the black wrapping and hologram have been added to try add additional value to what really is an intrinsically low value item. i.e. a coin with a face value of $2.

It is mutton dressed a lamb.

To suggest that a buyer is purchasing a wrapper is not only an insult but also a derogatory statement aimed at every collector of coins.
With a PCGS hologrammed item the purchaser is receivng a guarantee that the item is genuine as asessed by PCGS.

With these black wrappers what is in fact the hologram stating?

Search forum posts and it is easily seen that pure collecting is not the motive of some major contributors to this thread and forum.
