Quotethe hubby and I share them fairly evenly , sort of , well maybe ......

He probably hasn't got the heart to tell you about those "Extra" coins in his back pocket when he returns from the shop

ok - hadn't thought of that
so each time he comes home from woolies I'll have to take his pants off and do a body search
i doubt if i will get complaints

:)

Now now ladies, children are reading some of this.   Hehehe!

ha ha Goldie

he has just headed off to woolies again for me

I have pulled the pin on grocery shopping at the big supermarkets as we are gearing up for my retirement plan
i spend way too much at woolies & coles so I send him down now and he does a very good job of buying ONLY what is on the shopping list (amazing!!)
no plastic containers, other miscellaneous house hold items, no pot plants, no cheap faceclothes, no new socks & jocks, no pick-ups for the grandies, no new lippie that gets worn twice a year but the colour is to die for

just whats on the list .... very boring but excellent economy

they didn't have any last night (again) so the late night at our woolies is a no goer
we are both on LSL so it has become a bit of fun collecting a few coloured coins while we recover from this terrible flu and take it a bit easy for the moment

I soo want to buy a bag but am resisting (ebay facebook etc)

score
5 yellows
and no need for the body search  ............ :(
but no pot plants no plastic containers  ........... bigger  :(

Don't forget the cavity search. That was how that woman was sneaking stuff out of the mint, remember? :diablo:

well i have a sad story to tell

i went to woolies today while the hubby had a haircut and bought some groceries and a new jumpsuit for the grandie and 2 new bath mats

then at the checkout the chick has a bag of reds - I hand over $50 as she is happy to give them to me, YIPPIE is my reaction, then she's not sure if the bag has 25 coins in it - so she rips it open there and then then counts each coin then hands over the coins and torn bag

i ask if she has another bag as i'd rather a bag (of coins that haven't just been woman handled by the check out chick) no doesn't have one

so i now have 25 red coins in a torn bag
i gave the coins a quick wipe over with a soft cloth but after that I think i'd rather just spend them

then i go over to the mint and no they don't have any of the swimmer sets for the Olympic coins - they reckon that woolies got all of them

that is the story of my flaming life - always the bridesmaid and never the bride

Whoops my 13yo and I slipped and fell into Woolworths on the way home from an appointment this afternoon. After careful additions of spending and some mismatched items, potatoes, shampoo and gravy powder her and I went through the self checkout and completely FAILED in Olympic glory. Of the 4 $2 coins in change NONE were commemoratives. And it was busy so I didn't go whinge at the service counter. FAIL FAIL FAIL :dodgy:

What I am hearing from those stories is that you people have a Woolies in the vicinity of where you live and/or work; which is more than I can say.
I have been to Woolworths, since the release of these coins, as much as I ever do -zilch.
Only 'supermarket' here is a small IGA.
Thinking is dangerous, it makes you think. That\'s why many people avoid it.

I had a fun day too...

You can imagine my uncle's death put me in a wonderful frame of mind to start off with.

First stop is the store where I got a little grief yesterday over swapping a couple bags of 10¢ for mint bags. They just didn't get the concept of swapping like for like.

So this morning I walk in and they ignore me. 5 minutes later the supervisor comes over and says the manager's coming to talk to me. He reads me the riot act and says they're not a bank and I'm not going to get anything anymore. Then follows an hour-long conversation where I educate him as to what numismatics is, why condition is important and what level of commitment I have to this. Eventually he lets me have five coins, but makes it clear they won't be doing any swaps.

So I broke my routine and went to a known friendly store. My favourite girl in the whole retail universe greets me with a broad smile, and says, before I even get to the counter, "I'm really sorry, but we don't have any bags left today at all". And proceeds to hand over every coin she's got at the service desk, then suggests I check BWS. "HUH? BWS don't have any, several stores have told me that!" "Well, ours does. Go check." Enter my new-found favourite guy in the whole retail universe. He hands over a bag, and lets me have ten coins on top of that, while telling me that he's read the manifesto from head office, and everybody else has it wrong, and he has no qualms about keeping customers happy.

Then, because I'm way off my daily routine, I go to a store that turned nasty on me 2 weeks ago. I innocently ask for coins, get told that they're not going to give me any, and the supervisor comes up behind me and says "I told you last time, we're not going to give you any coins". Yeah, right, like I'm going to remember after several hundred woolies people... so I point out that they can't actually refuse if I buy something, right? She agrees, I walk over, grab five bottles of soda water, bring them back, and buy them ONE at a time, getting two coins from each transaction. So instead of just letting me have 5 or 2 or even 1 coin, they've just given me 10, and I very nearly then returned the bottles for a refund. I didn't, but I might just keep that one up my sleeve for the next one that pisses me off. ;)

Oh, and as for those 10¢ bags, I decided to carefully slit them open and noodle them before returning the surplus to the bank I got them from (I promised to not run them dry). Scored a 2011 in good nick, a 1999 with a big tail cud, and a 2006 with a massive cud at the top of the 0. Plus about 20 minor cuds and doubling. The rejects went back in the Armaguard bags, sealed, and you would never know they were opened. ;)

If it is any consolation the coins in the little "Baggies" are pretty much smashed around even before they get opened.
The little baggies of the changeover coins that I have gotten from RAM are a bit knocked about as well, Those little bags offer NO protection against "Bagging" at all.
That's why I have paid the premium and have bought/ordered rolls of these changeover coins :ok:
