Quote from: 'ausjack' pid='10585' dateline='1364192123'Yeah GS AR are the big brother to the slr they have the bi-pod..sweet rifles :) I also like the 9mm browning but don't know if they still use them either. But slr are pretty bloody good when ya crack'em, take the rat tail out and turn the little dial to "A" :friends:

you can do the same to an SLR if you get creative with a paper match and the sear pin :diablo: :ok: :dance:

OK so I would rather pick up a death adder that a shovel so I decided to get the vegie patch going in pots and beds.

I went to Bunnings and didn't like the BS prices on their setups.
Solutions are

I went to the tip shop and got some pots $15 and filled them with potting mix
[attachment=1529]

I then used some spare bricks I had lying about the place to make this ( I have to get some more potting mix)
[attachment=1530][attachment=1531]

I did however have to pick up that awful shovel and dig out this little patch for some silver beet and chard (once again seeds aren't up)
there are some shallots that have resprouted from last year :good:
[attachment=1533]

I dug 4 patches next to the rainwater tank for the Cucumbers ( seeds haven't sprouted yet :dash1:)
[attachment=1532]

So without too much effort and Cheap as chips " Her indoors" has all the veggie and herb space she needs :dance:

As a bonus I got to drink heaps of beer while I did this :diablo: :dance2:

that's one lucky lady, wish I had a great garden space.
all our stuff is in pots too! only because we live in beach sand and sand don't hold water, poop
we tried Bunning's mini garden beds and cant say they are the best compared to pots, yes they will grow plants but for the price I can get 10 huge garden pots, I mainly grow strawberries in garden pots, if thee one thing I can grow its strawberries, the garden beds are great for broad beans, tomatoes, parsley and one year we got marrows to grow in them good.
haha but now the chooks have learnt that the big square things hold silver beet and lettuce! yep they got a bit of a prune lately to the point the lettuces just had to be pulled out, and the chooks were like party :yahoo:
yep garden beds cant be moved around with ease either.
o do you like broad beans, I have special seeds I can send your way, also a but load of tomato seeds to start you off, you still got warm weather up there for tomatoes, can also pic some strawberry seeds too xx

found a pic of the broad beans, pretty flower with a light smell, very good cropper, better than the Coles dwarf one.
they are called crimson broad bean

Markn and I have been renovating our backyard for the last few months. We've shovelled 7 cubic metres of dirt out and 9.5 cubic metres of lovely new soil in. Markn has built me beautiful new veggie boxes and we layed the new couch lawn last Saturday. I have to say now we've almost finished. I still have to decide on some hedging type neighbour blocking out plant in the left garden beds and imagine a big glossy pot with a lime tree  in front of the screens with a bench seat. We've put in 2 x water tanks, a new garden shed and moved the clothes line down to the utility end of the yard freeing up the rest for actual real use! It looks amazing, I'm so proud of Mark, he did do most of the work.

How soon can you come and give a quote for my yard?
I have worked out what is to be done but never seem to find time to get around to it!

What a great job guys.! No wonder Mark is a "Top Ten" customer at Bunnings. Loved the raised lawn as well, makes it easier to maintain- Am I seeing Santa Anna.?
Look forward to pics of overflowing vege patches in the future. You will need Limes for your Friday Afternoon Margheritas.:yahoo:

Thanks guys. It's Windsor Green couch, a bit slower growing and might stay a little greener. Or so I am told. I've planted an orange and a mandarin over the far side, Mark is yet to hook up the watering system as we didn't want to flood the new lawn.

It has taken quite a few months, we've been lucky we have a great useable front lawn so the kids haven't been too put out.

Here's a half-time pic

Hey Jeff we actually got a quote to have it done and was going to be over 10k that's why we went ahead and did it all ourselves except for a little paving.

Top Job Mark an PP :good::yahoo:
Looks way flasher than mine :angel:
But then again a brand new garden on an over 100 year old house would look out of place ( at least that's what I tell the Missus) :laugh2:

I was sitting in that corner 10 minutes ago with a coldie and she sprayed me with the hose. Not very relaxing.
