Send me your addy and I will send you a couple of the ones I have picked up so that you don't have to feed the eBay frenzy Mate :good::)

I won't be feeding the eBay frenzy. Been there, done that -nothing wrong with making a mistake as long as you learn from it.

No Woolworths where i live either had to drive over an hour to my nearest , at least i got to fill the car up with cheap petrol  . Most of the coins i got will be going to people up my way , already down -$12 thanks to relatives lol . The quality is just as bad as last time bag marks everywhere so its not just the checkout chicks . Good on you Trout , i to have a few spare (5) if anybody misses out just pm me

I got to my local Woollies store and exchanded a roll of $2 coins for a bag of new coins.

I am happy.

The bag has been broken open for my two, six for a friend and another 4 for other people.   The wife has snafued the rest and put them away.

I will be doing it again for the next four weeks.

I was not asked to buy any produce at all but the situation may change come next Monday.   Only time will tell.

:swoon: Gee I was so annoyed a few minutes ago when they showed Kitty Chiller on the news putting her dirty paws all over the new coins and dropping them  When will these people learn they are only devaluing the coins :@ And she said this is everyone's chance of getting their own little part of olympic history and there will be 12 million release but with a population of 24 million or so and some places not having a woolies and then some branches handing out bags to one person there will be a LOT of people that won't get their "piece of history" :dash1: Personally I'm over the coloured coins as all it is is hype and we still have a couple of years of the anzacs so there will be more to come and now they've set another standard for big business(not only the wealthy papers) to get coins made for everything from tragedies to sporting events :( The days of just collecting is quickly dwindling.

All is good Mate.
Most of the population see our coinage as simply a means of commerce and that is as it should be, That is precisely why coins are minted. :ok:

AJ you must understand two things about these coins;
1. They are a publicity stunt and collectors are not a consideration in that exercise.
2. It follows that condition of the coins is not relevant. Some very nice people man (woman? actually both) the Woolworths checkouts but they are not expected to know about what affects collectibility.

Similar exercises in recent years have involved RSL/Ex-Services clubs and newsagenst, neither of whom would be expected to generally know about handling coins. What next? service stations, real estate agents (at least we have some of those here), fast food outlets...the list could be very long. One thing you can be assured of is that only one company/brand/franchise will handle the coins.
As the late professor said "Why is it so?". Provide your own answer but, here is a clue to what I think 'm*n*y'.

Australia Post has killed stamp collecting (modern, Australian issues). Is the RAM trying to do the same thing for coins? It seems to be a business trend now to 'win friend and influence people' NOT.

Yes I understand all this and it pisses me off to no end that it's all about the money, even though it's all about money :scratch_one-s_head: Anyway when our sport is dead it doesn't really matter does it. Maybe I should just cash out now while the going is good and while we still actually use money :( I want a press so I can make my own :winkextra:

Most don't even see our coinage as commerce any more as they don't even use it or cards any more as it's swipe your mobile and off you toddle as happy as larry. I so sick of these publicity stunts and the antics of the mint and the like. I wouldn't mind the RSL and others doing things like they did as long as the money went to a good use like helping out returned that we hang out to dry but it doesn't, oh this is all so depressing :( I think I need a glass and a half of full cream dairy milk :winkextra:

No doubt the RAM is on the ball. Look at the email they sent me tonight. My emphasis -Fulvios letter seems to indicate this is a misleading promise.

Yeah, I got the same letter. We all did.

Look, I would have no problem with these coins being strictly rationed. One exchange per customer per visit.

IF they were available in bags to collectors, at face value.

But this 50% markup on the sets, and the fact they're not available until after the event, with no guarantees, even as to what coins they'll actually be? That's bullshit.

Imagine if you took their advice, laid back and didn't worry. Then you pay your $15 for $10 worth of coins, only to find they're C mintmarks. I'd be pissed off, as would we all.

This has been a gigantic cockup in my opinion, and its not going to achieve either happy customers or the results they hoped for.

I wouldn't bet on that.

2,000,000 coins
1,000 coins per sack
2,000 sacks
961 stores
2.081165452653486 sacks per store, average

80 bags to last a week in the tills. Yeah, right!
