FFS...

WTF is wrong with you people anyway?

A) I'm not promoting anything. I made some enquiries and reported back. My relationship is as a new customer. That's it.

B) You seem to not comprehend that the MANUFACTURER and the DEALER are two different entities.

C) The MANUFACTURER at this stage doesn't want their name bandied about until they have actual product to show. That's fair enough. Their name will be on the product, and It is one we can expect to recognise.

D) The DEALER offers products at prices determined by costs. Same as EVERY other dealer, here on ACF or elsewhere. Is $179 too much for a roll of these things? Yes, I think so. So does the dealer. But its the manufacturer's call what price to put on them. And its the customer's call whether to pay it. Take it up with them.

E) A 50 CENT premium on the carded Paralympics coins is not in my opinion excessive. Nor is $2 on the 5-coin set. Which is why I ordered both.

F) The wording on the page WAS misleading. We pointed that out. It was fixed pretty well instantly. Name another dealer who can be stuffed doing that, after hours mind you, other than perhaps PPH?

I consider myself a reasonable judge of character. Yes, I've made some mistakes... But hey, I actually talk to AJ, so is that a plus or a minus? ;) Based on a very long telephone conversation (check the time stamps) and things which were said and done during said conversation, I heard no warning bells like I've had with so many allegedly reputable dealers out there.

I like who I like, and I support those I like. I visit and buy from Adam regularly. I buy from PPH when I can afford it. I like Steele and even sometimes buy from him. And I like Ron so far. I expect I will continue to like him after we meet on the weekend. Come to the ANDA show and you can meet him too. Or ring him tomorrow and conduct your own survey.

You should all know by now that I have no problem calling out scumbags. I lodged two complaints with Woolies today about store managers with their heads firmly up their nether regions, and I have met plenty of dealers who I wouldn't trade with if my life depended on it. If I think someone is dodgy, I have no problem saying so. Ask me about the shop I was in this afternoon that has to be THE worst one in Melbourne. :P

The only problem I've seen here so far is some of the prejudice being shown by you guys. Wise up. :P

I would think that many of us here are reasonably certain as to who the manufacturer is and that Ron is possibly just one of his retailers.
This doesn't alter the fact that this Roll issue is pretty much a scam and that there is a high probability some shenanigans are involved with the procurement of the coins being used here :ok:

Why is it when some "Home Brand" PNC is found on the market it is treated with widespread distain and yet you feel that these rolls are "Kosher" ?

Quote from: 'trout' pid='95606' dateline='1472129718'you feel that these rolls are "Kosher" ?

Where did I say that?

I don't think they're kosher at all, actually. I can, and do, roll my own coins and could easily use black paper instead of white and turn out something similar. So could you.

However, neither of us has access to UNC coins unless we open bags. Which ARE mint product, so there is no rational reason to do that.

The manufacturer has done a deal with the Mint to get a supply of coins. The deal is almost certainly dodgy. Not because of the manufacturer, any more than the deals with Woolies and News Ltd were dodgy from the companies standpoints. But rather from the Mint's end. They have told multiple differing stories, all of which appear suspect in one way or another.

Whether they have produced extra coins, repurposed coins intended for packs, or shorted Woolies, it is clear that what has happened is not what we were told would happen. And yes, that's dodgy. And I don't like it.

But...

Is it reasonable to take out the Mint's failings on a manufacturer? Tell me that if they came to you and offered you a bulk quantity of coin you wouldn't take them up on it? I would, and so would you. And after paying for the coins, and the costs of the equipment and supplies to manufacture the rolls, dealer margins and so on, not to mention making an actual profit, that the price wouldn't end up in the same region?

How is this different to PP making up albums and pages? Or any of the private producers of PNCs? Or the private mints for that matter? If you're going to tar one, you have to tar them all with the same brush.

Me, I do hold these products in disdain, yes (well, maybe not the albums and pages...). I wouldn't buy them. But as long as they're not misrepresented, I have no problem with them existing. If others want to buy them, that's not my problem, just like its not my problem when they buy overpriced RAM and PM junk.

Now, if the rolls were wrapped in RAM paper, or Armaguard paper for that matter, that would be another story. Or if the coins were fakes. Or if the rolls contained other than Olympic coins. Then it would be fraud. But none of that is the case here, so why should I take out my personal preferences on either the dealer or manufacturer?

I don't understand all this sorry, about the manufacturer and pre orders because they haven't made them yet or something very strange so I hope the buys actually get what they pay for and as we all know you don't have to sell for more than what a manufacturer wants if we want to sell something as it's called wearing a loss (that's if you really want to sell) and the add is still misleading on the main page as the seller just added another line from the original. I will LMFAO if people actually open these "mint rolls" and find that the coins that are meant to be there aren't there and that is very likely with no guarantee with a "manufacturer" that operates like this and doesn't want to be known :dodgy: And I can't see how PP folders are ANYTHING like this joke, very sad indeed :dash1: PP isn't saying the folders are a mint product to start.
But hey, I actually talk to AJ, so is that a plus or a minus? ;)
:scratch_one-s_head: I'm not sure so I suppose it depends on how you look at things
This is all just way too suss and to much secret squirrel stuff going on for my liking and I can see this is going nowhere and is gonna end bad as so many of our conversation like this do so please play nice :friends:

ROFL! :stinker:

Quote from: 'ausjack' pid='95614' dateline='1472132510'isn't saying the folders are a mint product to start.

Nobody said they're a mint product. Quite the opposite.

As for not announcing who is making them, that's like every product launch I've ever seen. All is revealed in the end. Remember the Optus launch? We had months and months of mysterious "Yes" ads and absolutely no clue of who or what it was. Everybody who knew was sworn to secrecy until the big day. This is no different.

Suppose the manufacturer turns out to be Downies. Or Walter (No, its probably neither of them, just picking examples at random). Would your opinion change? Of course it would. All I'm saying is don't pre-judge when you don't have all the information, that's all.

Well, I snipped these 2 images (which I've combined) from the same site that I got one of them from yesterday, and these images would certainly be enough to ensure that any purchaser would reasonably believe that they were a RAM product.

After seeing this and knowing that the member responsible is aware of the concerns raised here, and the wording in question in the 'advertisement' has not been changed, there is no way I'm going to be conned into buying anything off this mob. I don't care how much explanation is hidden elsewhere in small writing, the deceptive practice is enough to bring up a huge red flag.

I am a little confused (just waiting ...) by terminology.

https://eshop.ramint.gov.au/ALLOCATION-EXHAUSTED-2016-Australian-Olympic-Team-Program/510928.aspx

So the allocation of the Olympic set is exhausted but the stated mintage is unlimited. Is that just code for the RAM waiting to see what the take-up is like and producing more?

Bit of a delay too with the Paralympic folder?

It wouldn't matter who is responsible for making these, They are a scam and I highly doubt that Walter would scoop down to this sort of malarkey, not so sure about Downies tho

Sorry, I'm confused.

You post a pic of a RAM roll and a claim that they sell RAM rolls and you think this is somehow indicative of a scam???

HUH?

This is a bit like a car yard that sells both new and used cars having a sign that says 'New Cars', and you post a pic of a new car saying its a scam cos they also have used cars.

Maybe its too early in the morning, but I don't get it. :dodgy:

Trout, doubt both suggestions mate as the pyramid selling has been in full swing this week

Downies make their own sales and don't use  social media like facebook to promote and sell a 'private' issue that is 'certified' and you can grab the bargain now for $100 below "RRP"of $995 BUT you must pre-order right now with a $200 deposit RIGHT now and yes, as posted by a member - if you have missed out on this rushed 'pre-order' discounted post , you can go to commcoinage and order the 'more exy' set but at the RRP for the thousand dollars

I am angry as
I think that sales method is distributed across individuals
there are NO photos of the product
NO detail of the so called manufacturer
no advertising or endorsement as yet by the RAM

500 rolls - is that in toto for the 500 sets or 100 sets of 5 colours?
yet there are also 500 rolls of the para coins - so effectively there are 1,000 para rolls ?
all of this limited edition

çustomers are buying a story line - no more no less - trust me darling mentality

I have no issue with commcoinage being a member - dealers are always welcome
I do have issue Fulvio actively going out of his way with the promotion for selling of a 'private' issue of the olympic coins in rolls for over 3 times the value of a circulation issue coin through a single  'dealership' as the bloke is a mate of his
I do have issue with the fact that in this forum buying selling and swapping is supposed to be állowed' after 50 posts
And i was under the impression that was for all members regardless to them being a dealer who has been a member for a year and half and made 3 posts in that time.

you can work overtime Fulvio to rationalise your position but the bottom line is that you have cheerfully promoted the sale of the olympic coins in a non-official private issue to the members here at more than 3 times their value so that some so called 'unnamed manufacturer/dealer' can pay off his newly acquired rolling machine at the expense of the naive coin collectors ???????????

get off the F*** grass mate
