Silky Oak is my favourite type of timber.  It's just lovely.

Had the leadlight door repaired yesterday and so I stayed up late and sanded it,restained and did the first coat of
varnish. Also finished the back panel at the top of the cabinet and the grain is now looking very nice now that the original
old varnish has been stripped back

It's great to see an old piece of lovely furniture being bought back to life.  You're doing a wonderful job of it and it will be absolutely beautiful when finished. :good:

Is that a job offer AJ ? If I was close I would give you a hand mate but I had a day off sanding today. There's never enough hours in the day and I'm sure I could get more done if I didn't have to sleep for 6 hours per day

The top of that piece has some of the best silky oak quarter cut grain I've seen! I've seen a lot of silky oak.

I'm the opposite AJ, I used to be able to run on about 6 hours a day, now with the meds I take I'm gone zzzzz for at least 8-10. (They drop you like the proverbial).
