Probably because the majority of NCLT coins are "C" mintmarks/counterstamps :)

True, and because they're normally the cheapest of the mint marks they're the first to get spent when times are tough.

I would think that most of the NCLT that is found in circulation come from collectors that have given up the hobby and can't be bothered with eBay and the like to sell these or from deceased estates.
There is of course the odd few knocked off from Pop's or nanna's collection to buy lollies with by kids :laugh2:
I myself have a couple of hundred dollars in face value of carded $1 NCLT coins surplus that are probably not worth the effort selling individually on eBay and these may yet end up in the "pond" as well.
This could also be where many of these NCLT coins are coming from as well .
I have yet to find a NCLT coin in my change But if I did I would definitely keep it because for me it would hold more relevance than if I had just bought the coin :)

Here are the NCLTs I found yesterday morning...

When I came in last night from my outside jobs I finished noodling the same bag and found this one...

I found one of these in my first noodling for a while

Was hoping for a 50 years of decimal currency $1, but this was a nice find too.

I once found a Sir Henry Parkes coin with a "B" mintmark in my change. I reckon no one noticed it was NCLT because without the mintmark, it would have been a normal circulating coin.

Did a $400 bag of 50¢ last night and another this morning. Found a 1985 in each bag -that is very good.
Found I was short a few coins to pack up the bags to return so, when i went to get the paper I popped into the bank (next door to newsagent) and grabbed a $10 bag.

Guess what?

The teller did tell me late last week someone cashed in a large quantity of coins and, every day since, I have been getting $500 of $1, $400 of 50¢ and $100 of 20¢ and they still have more. Guess where I'm going now? (Before they send them all back to Armaguard tomorrow.)
