Those 2008 5c with the extra metal under some of the letters should be relatively easy to find.  Back when I was noodling I found 9 of them.  Caused by a worn die I'd say.

I just did a very quick check and 7 look like they have the nose cud.  I might see if I can do a collage and put them in some sort of order to show the deterioration of the die (no promises though).

They were first reported by Brissyboy on the old ACBO forum.

a collage would be cool to see Nevol   , i noodled $100 worth which took forever lol . Would be good to see who has the most deteriorated version i bet the die would have exploded not long after our coins were made

Looks like it may be in a similar spot to the 2011.

btw: Nice work and good pic AussieSilver, you've now inspired me to go through my Wife's 5c jar when I next have a spare couple of hours. (probably around 2018 I'd imagine :laugh2:)

thks Unicorn , ditto with the IRB cuds that's one i don't have . Good luck with the 5 cent pieces lol

:laugh2: Believe it or not I was only saying to Mrs Uni yesterday that I'm glad I don't normally noodle 5c bits. I had about 20 to look through at the time and I was all thumbs!!!! Kept droping the little buggers!!!

The 2013 also had Queen's neck cuds in the IRB area (although smaller) ... see 10 & 11 in the following thread.

I know what you mean Uni. My son passed over his change hoard for me to look through - it had quite a number of the little blighters in it and they were going in all directions. The eyes weren't all that happy afterwards either!

Now I need to go back and see if there are any of AS's 2008 errors in there :dash1:

know what you mean Pedro  kind of what my eyes were like after noodling the fives , i like the die cracks Unicorn , i purchased a couple of rolls of 2014 mor's when they first came out and had to open them found a few similar to yours will try to get some pics

[attachment=3424][attachment=3425]gee these die cracks are tricky to image bit smaller than yours Uni , the blurry line at front of bust is it lol also bit of doubling on back of neck.Have a couple where the third and fourth roo have a tiny crack on their mouths but no luck imaging them .The best error i found on the 2014's is a strike through which i quite like. Anyone else got some 2014 mor errors can't find any threads or pics of them

Some of the results so far from noodling my son's change pile:

2004 20c with some doubling on the platypus's body and bill. Bit of cud action on left hand side tip of the bill as well.

2012 20c with a cud on a left hand side wave swirl

1999 $1 with cuds in the leaves at the bottom of the coin (I have only found cuds in the swirls above previously). Also doubling on the lettering.

OK, I've done the images of the 2008 5 cents.

Because I have 9, I've done them in 3 sets of 3. The coin # is irrelevant really, just helped me to keep track of what I was doing.

I found the last three pretty hard to decide on the final order, so you may have a different opinion than me and if you do please share your thoughts.
The P in top right corner stands for position.

All of them except C2 have an inner circle, so I don't know the reason for that, maybe a different die?

Both C2 & C7 are also missing the nose cud.

Greta effort Nevol. i think your spot on with the order , C7 has the smallest hint of a cud. Of interest C9 doubling on I but not on others , C5 narrow lettering A & T stand out the most also it has the most doubling on the lips not on others . As you say different dies ? .The double rims are the mystery part, i was thinking they have something to do with bulging letters , all that pressure but i have a couple of double rims with no doubling on letters which blows that theory.Almost forgot have these coins got double rim on reverse?
