that 2nd one is better on one side but not on the other. the last one shows so much more colour it would make it worth it by its self. I am thinking you need to play with the light angle and white balance a bit. it makes me want to buy one now!

Small silver Pic's
The ISO 100 setting really picks up every detail on a coin even ones so small.
Just have to have a steady hand.

I just had another look at the pic's.
Is that a tiny clip on the 1964 coin?

Dark and battered coins show all their character marks when using the OTT light as well :good:

You need to slow your shutter down a bit, those are underexposed.  But SOOOOOOOO much better than the ones taken outside in the sun.

No, that's not shutter speed, that's film sensitivity emulation.  Do you control the shutter speed or F-Stop at all?  Or do you leave all of that on automatic?  You could try changing to ISO200 see if you get any loss of detail (but you'll get brighter images).

EDIT

I've just had a look at the EXIF data on the image of the jersey coin.  It's taken at f3.4 and 1/90 second with an exposure compensation of -0.3 step.  Get rid of the exposure compensation to begin with, that's making the images darker.  Even set it to +0.3 or +0.6.  If your camera has shutter priority mode you could set it to 1/60 and hope the camera keeps the F3.4 aperture.  Or if it has full manual set it to F3.4 and change the shutter speed to 1/60.

I have a setting for image quality that has 2 options, Fine and Normal .
No F stop setting.

The Camera I have at the moment is a "Point and Shoot" jobbie that cost me less than $300.
I imagine that I don't have the additional settings and capabilities with this unit.

Fuji Finepix T200 has no aperture or shutter priority or manual mode.  Bugger.  Fiddle with the exposure compensation then and perhaps try it on ISO200.

Not to worry, the images are an order of magnitude better than what you were taking a week ago.

Thanks Mate I really appreciate that coming from you.:yahoo:
I will muck about more with my "Volksie" a bit  and get off my "L" plates then I am seriously thinking of getting a decent unit.

I am really enjoying this aspect of the hobby and I love learning new stuff, So when I have "Upgraded" my brain I will have to do the same with my tools :)
