I just received a whole bunch of notifications from PCGS telling me my Trueview images are ready to download, The thing is I didn't order any trueview images with that particular submission so I don't know what has happened here.
This is from a submission that was finalised last Month.
There is NO need to pay the extra $10 per coin as you get the trueview images for free with a "Secure" submission now anyway.

If I get charged for this I will be pretty Miffed as I didn't authorise it when I sent the submission in.

That's interesting what you say about the $10 images being free with a Secure submission. I did not know that, clearly I need to do some more homework. I thought all submissions were now secure but when I did my research I got the impression that if I wanted images I would pay $10 for them.

PCGS started to supply trueview images with a secure submission halfway through last year.
Prior to that the images that were supplied were pretty awful and sometimes only half of the coin was imaged, sometimes not at all.
It was quite a welcome change when it was first brought in :good:

Yes, I understand the history of PCGS images and the Trueview are great. From memory the Trueview images are listed on the submission form at a cost of $10US so I factored that out when trying to work out the cheapest price. I guess I will know more when and if I get my coins back but I am not expecting any images.

Funnily enough my latest submission doesn't have the trueview images , maybe PCGS hasn't finished them yet or they have discontinued supplying them with the Secure submissions.
I haven't heard anything about the service being discontinued so hopefully they are just behind a bit.

This is what I was getting at. Weren't the Trueview images originally $5 and now $10 which is a 100% price hike but not surprising coming from PCGS.

I hope you are correct but my impression is that you don't get the images unless you pay the extra $10US - I hope I'm wrong.

The $5 surcharge for the secure option which is compulsory for non modern world submissions has always been there as far as I am aware.
PCGS just decided to replace the crappy old image types with the trueview ones.
I really enjoy the new images especially for my toned coins as they show the colours far better than I can achieve with my camera skills.

I should have added that I was referring to pre-decimals which must come under category 5.d and presumably include the images:

As far as I can tell the trueview is still provided with the secure submissions :good:
If your coins are valued under $300 then you can send them World Economy for $20 a pop +$5 for the secure fee plus postage and the $10 handling fee.
If they are between $300-3000 then you will have to use the regular submission option at $32 a coin plus all the rest of the costs.
It pays NOT to undervalue your coins as if there is any problems you will only get your declared value as compensation.

I don't need to undervalue my coins. In the end I did not make my own submission, I went with a dealer but I assume they would have gone as "World Economy for $20 a pop + $5 for the secure fee plus postage and the $10 handling fee." So, maybe I will be pleasantly surprised and get Trueview images but at this stage I would settle for just the coins.

Yes these extended turnaround times of late are very annoying, The  times have reduced somewhat on the PCGS website But  that hasn't been reflected on the ground.
There have been a few World submissions graded as of late so there IS some light at the end of the tunnel for our submissions getting finalised.
I have been told by PCGS that my last submission will be finalised by the end of this week or next week , So yours shouldn't be too far away from getting done hopefully.

I have been looking through my graded one dollar silver proofs and I have noticed that some of the coins are developing Purple/blue toning on the edges of the coins, similar to the toning often found on the "Dump" in the  holey dollar and dump sets.
They have been stored in an inert folder held in lighthouse slab pages, It doesn't appear to be a PVC problem as it is purple/electric blue  toning and not that nasty green muck.
This is the first time I have noticed this happening to coins in PCGs slabs.
All the toned coins were graded in the same submission on 31/7/14 and I am wondering if they picked up something at PCGS before they were encapsulated ?
I will post a couple of images later :ok:

These were all issued by the RAM in capsules, right? How were they stored between removal from the capsules and being  submitted in 2014? I have about 60 of these stored in saflips, so far so good.

I put the entire set together over a period of 6-12 months.
As I acquired each coin I removed it from its capsule and placed it into  saflips which in turn were stored in  PP 20 coin pages ready for submission.
There were 63 x 25mm silver proofs in the submission I sent and have been adding the odd new coin as it is issued since.
There are a few Whitman and Dansco albums of US coins in the same drawer in the filing cabinet, The Silver coins in these albums don't seem to be adversely affected though.
The toning on the silver dollars appears to be originating from the edges of the coins and as the graders at PCGS don't wear gloves (For Obvious reasons) I am thinking maybe one of them had something on his/her fingers.
The toning is a little distracting But not totally unpleasant and some of the coins are over 20 years old so I imagine that Silver will do what it naturally does I suppose.
