Don't worry 'cause I can tell you right now YES, KEEP IT.
:laugh2: I was thinking you were gonna put up a bit of road kill but it looks like a nice split..good find mate :good:

If it's not an error coin you want to see the lines under the wings and a lot more detail :)

thank you, first photo up, any hints on this coin??

so what exactly would it be classed as??

ausjack

does it go all the way thru? I can't remember who but someone posted a nice 50 cent and the split broke when they took pic's I think..shocking memory sorry but really cool pic and yours looks like it might go to the rim so it might break off..who know :)

what do you mean "hints" it's a split planchet and it adds value as an error coin and they come in different sorts so here's a quick ebay link :good: http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html/_W0QQ_sopZ12?_nkw=split%20planchet&_fromfsb=0&_trksid=m270.l1313

and here's some more from the :big_boss: http://www.thepurplepenny.com/coin-errors-and-varieties,60.html

nice coin
think that the lamination more than doubles the value for an errors collector!

Goldseeker

Lamination flaws aren't rare but they are certainly not common .   Many of my flaws are on the earlier type coins.

That one is definitely a KEEPER.

PS:   Don't cut your finger on the sharp edge like I have done several times.

Thanks AJ, I won't let it break off. Any idea how much it might be worth??

ausjack

No idea sorry mate as you could get anything from a few bucks to $20 or more..depends on how you get rid of it as well, as auction you could get a few people that really want it but dealers won't give you much..sorry I'm not much help :(
I'll go do an advanced search and see if anything turns up :)
