In the bottom of the last 2 images Kel posted, look at the edges of the defect.  The ink appears to be missing. Any type of cut wouldn't remove the ink.  :dontknow:

For all of those 1964 and purple penny lovers here's one that recently
came out of a roll

That was a certain 1964 penny fancier fainting!
Thinking is dangerous, it makes you think. That\'s why many people avoid it.

That's one nice Perth Mule, much much scarcer in such a high grade and must be worth a premium. :good:

I always keep an eye out for the varieties like this. In this case the 2x2 had a grade (aUNC) and price that as a Perth penny would have made it overpriced, but with the Melbourne obverse it was worth it.
I can't see wear on it, and for the life of me I can't work out why photo bucket is messing with my photos so I had to drop it to 200kb for the forum.

You tried to upload an image 3675pX1875p in size, Photobucket would have a hernia trying to store that.

Limit the "Doubles" to 1200X600 when you upload to Photobucket
and you won't have any probs.

Cheers FP.
The Originally it was 4800 x 2500 or so, so I've brought it down to 1200 x 650 i think and not used compression (i had massive compression on the 3675x1875 photo)
