I thought the 2009 Berlin Money Fair issue were (Unc) mint sets like the Astronomy ones issued here. Were the 500 $1 coins like the one interest has in addition to the sets?

I have the 2011 berlin and standard mint sets at home and the coins are of the same standard as far as I can remember.
I will have a closer look at them on Friday :ok:

I have the last 2 on my list but does the one in the middle (510127) belong as well? :dontknow:

Note in the pic its the 2nd from the top. Looks bigger than 25mm.

I believe that the coin you are referring too is 31.8 mm diameter something.

Yes I too think it's bigger than the standard 25mm. Not sure exactly without looking it up.

sorry trout but they have too many now and it's showing in the design or lack there of..how many lame ways can they depict Australia..new quiz how many coins both NCLT and cirulation that have a map of oz on it?? and most of the ones's where they say "planet" they show the globe. It's a shame proof are so hare to get a decent pic of without spending more time than I like setting up..one day I'll work it out

Thank you trout for the scan. I take ausjack's point. In some cases I think we might collect coins in spite of the designs. Is the 2008 Planet Earth $1 coin designed by Vladimir Gottwald? Maybe there is an explanation somewhere for what its all about. Fwiw, here's my take on it. We have hands reaching out to us from the 4 corners of the globe. There is a rock that looks like a football at the centre of our continent. Actually it more or less covers SA. The top end has been rent asunder by a giant croc. I have no idea how to interpret the east and west coast designs.

I agree with both you and AJ, the design is CRAP but if you want to complete a dollar set you have to take "the Good, the Bad and the just plain UGLY" If it is a standard size $1 coin and minted by R.A.M I will collect it.
I am about 80% of the way to completing this set and I am not about to let a simple case of aesthetics stop me now :laugh2:
The 50 cent coins are the same , there are some "Butt ugly" coins and some outstanding coins in these issues but that never stops a true (obsessive) collector from getting them :angel:
just look at the 34-35 Melbourne Florin, Worst designed florin issued and yet it is the most expensive to get .

Was thinking about giving this one to my Pop as he use to own a few horses but retired that past time. His horses were (Jestica, Benarina Boy) and one more but can't remember her name for the life of me..
