my scanner needs a clean

2005 "Dancing Man" dollar. It came in mint sets, circulation coins, wedding sets.

This one is a wedding set coin

The mob of roos also circulated in 2005. The quality of the coins is very high for a circulation issue. I have pulled MS67s out of security company rolls.

Next we have what I consider one of the more attractive NCLT designs, the 2007 international polar year dollar.

The circulating 2007 dollar coin was the issued to commemorate the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum (APEC) held in Australia that year. This coin was only released as a business strike with no special high grade packaged issue such as mint sets. As such, the coin is hard to find in high grade. This was the best I could find in the two RAM rolls I opened.

The next coin while it has an attarctive design, is one of the toughest to get in really high grade even though it appeared in mint sets (and only in mint sets).
Note the ugly speckled appearance. To a lesser or greater (usually greater) extent all of the 2009 astronomy dollars have this appearance. I have heard that the astronomy dollars were struck many months before they were packaged. In that time they were poorly stored.

The 2009 Australia Post dollar is another coin with an attractive simple design. I bought ten from the post office when they were released. I should have looked at them closer before I brought them home as all the coins were quite bagmarked on the obverse. It appears that I got a bad batch as this issue can be found much better than the one in my collection:

The 2010 Burke & Wills dollar came in mint set style packaging. With semi prooflike reflective fields they are attractive. Unofrtunately they frequently have a mottled  look similar to the 2009 astronomy.

In 2011 in a desperate and successful attempt to get me to spend more money, the RAM released the Australian Wool $1 as part of the two coin set.
The overall appearance of the coin is attractive - nice bloom, flat fields and not speckled. Unfortunately they can be a bit baggy. It's well worth looking through a large quantity of these to find the less bagmarked ones.

It's been a while since we had one, so here's a full page:

Looks good doesn't it?
These pages fit into a standard binder. If you get them in bulk, the pages cost two or three dollars each.

Next we come to the coin I consider the key date of the one dollar commemorative series due to its condition rarity.
Due to the modern high speed presses the circulation coins take a battering before they are bagged up and sent to the security companies.
The 2011 CHOGM dollar:

All the examples I've examined are heavily bagmarked and this is the best one I've been able to find. Its saving grace is its attractive fresh mint bloom.
(This issue may be one for the speculator; buy as many rolls as you can [the RAM ones are generally better quality], crack them open and cherry pick the coins. An MS65 would be a coin worth preserving).

Next we come to one with a simple design that looks attractive in aluminium bronze - the 2012 Wheat dollar. These come in the two coin set and are generally high quality. This one was cherry picked by looking through rougly a hundred sets:

Yet another coin-in-a-card was released to celebrate the international year of co-operatives. The general quality was average to good but with enough searching exceptional examples could be found:

The 2012 Men's Trophy while having a semiprooflike appearance, on closeup has a "milky" look which keeps its grade down.

Looks like some of you have been having fun while I was asleep.  This thread is locked until I can sort out the mess.  I'll put emu666's images back here shortly.  Any debate on slabbed dollars can be taken to this thread: http://www.australian-coins.net/showthread.php?tid=1697.  Any more debate on slabbed dollars will result in a stern look and me waggling a disapproving finger.

Normal service shall resume shortly.

OK all sorted.  Please let the posting of dollar coin images and information resume.  Keep it civil.  Any more insulting posts will result in that post being deleted.  Any posts questioning the merits of slabbing dollar coins will be moved (here: http://www.australian-coins.net/showthread.php?tid=1697).

What 1964 penny pics?  I thought all the 1964 penny pics now had their own home.

The 2012 Tennis Women's trophy was released at the same time as the men's trophy. It is similar in appearance (often with that "milky" look).

I like the commentary, but would MUCH rather see the coin pics trimmed to JUST the coin. We all know what a slab looks like by now, and the current pics are a waste of bandwidth.

Here we have a special from the Baby Set (yet another coin to collect)
The 2012 Dot And The Kangaroo dollar. I'd have to say the design doesn't particularly excite me but the coin is tough in high grade. Most of the coins I observed in the sets were heavily bagmarked.

Yet another release from the RAM early in 2012 was the Year Of The Farmer coin.
The stock I examined was of relatively poor quality - this was the best I could find

The problem with this coin (and all examples I'd examined when making my original purchase) is that milky look. This is readily apparent on the obevrse:

The coin has no bagging, good bloom, good strike but relatively poor eye appeal. As the eye appeal accounts for 20% of the grade, this explains why the coin only came in as an MS65.

Yes it is a nice design.

The mintmark (privy mark counterstamp etc) coin for 2012 used the threepence design.

An attractive little coin.
This one is a B counterstamp from the Brisbane ANDA show. The obverse is a little baggy but the bloom is nice and it has none of that milky look that the last few coins have.
