The Donation Dollars are just starting to come out now.
None on eBay yet; that is unusual.

My motto is "All donations gratefully accepted". Seriously though I would like to get a few but new release, circulation coins (and notes) can take anything from 12 to 24 months to hit the local bank branch here.
Thinking is dangerous, it makes you think. That\'s why many people avoid it.

Hercules

How the hell are they going to stop people from collecting them? I can see these coins disappearing just as quickly as the other coloured coins.

The one they showed on the ABC news was already losing paint so finding a few to put away in good condition may well be difficult.
RAM are making money for all people but making wealth for some people, most notably Security company employees that transport coins, bank staff with nous and dealers and speculators with access to new releases. The rest of us lose wealth to add to our collections.

Have there been ''Donation Dollars'' in Australia in the past?
I have never heard of them before. Besides, I find the concept a bit strange.
Anyway, if they are legal tender -- and apparently  not NCLT -- I would like to add one or two to my collection. If a donation is needed, well, there are other Australian Dollar coins I could donate...

No there haven't.
Nice idea though. But they'll mostly get put away.

Goldseeker

I am just waiting for the greedy buggers to start selling them on eBay at inflated prices.

If there are any, I certainly will not be buying them.

Ralf, I will do my best to find us some.
As you said, I can donate other dollars to charity.

OFEC count = 258

Given that they say they are going to mint one for every Australian that should be over 25 million so no one should be buying them off fleabag.

Goldseeker

Yes and both traders a real greedy grubs.

Interesting on a listing from a single coin on eBay.

Royal Australian Mint 2020

New Release $1 Uncirculated Coin

1st Release in Green 2020

2nd , 3rd , 4th colours will be released over time

Full mintage of around 25 million coins over 4 or 5 years

A coin released as a reminder to donate to your Favourite charities when you can afford todo so

JeffH

The seller Jenny posted links to previously says "To keep with the spirit of the coin I will be giving away $XX from the sale".
Not donating to charity but "giving away". To who; girlfriend, child's piggybank? And how would anyone ever know what the seller does with the proceeds.?
Overpriced and description gives me no confidence in the seller who normally sells stamps.
Check out this sold listing from same seller. Shill bid or a gullible buyer? Green 2020 One Dollar ($1) 2 Security Bags 40 Coins. Uncirculated Donation $ (2)

The different colours to come is interesting.

Just like we (forum members) had expected...

I also expect that the RAM will change the colour for 2021, ectr.
So, the mintage of 4.5 million for the Green one is not low, but neither is it ''high''

Look at how poor the paint job is on that coin. If that is uncirculated, getting a really nice one is going to be near impossible.
