PCGS Grading Saflips

Reading back on earlier threads it appears that PCGS requires submissions to be in 2.5 x 2.5 inch flips. The PCGS submission info appears to confirm this. 

I see that PPH sells only the 2 x 2 inch saflips and knowing that she and Mark submit coins to PCGS does anyone know for sure that they (PCGS) will remove the coins from a 2 x 2 and then put it in a 2.5 x 2.5 upon arrival or will they keep them in the 2 x 2 during the process?

I know it's an old discussion but I'm thinking about doing a submission and want to avoid risks.  :blush:

Good question uni. I have pondered this anomaly myself when some who submit to PCGS do mention 2x2 :good:

I don't know if they swap the flips, but they still take the coin out in order to assess them.

Saflips would be required. If you don't have any, you can contact The Purple Penny. They are the cheapest suppliers in Australia:

I have sent hundreds of coins to PCGS and NGC in 2x2 saflips and didn't have Any dramas whatsoever.
Get some from PP and go for it, I also used to put the flips into a saflip page to give the coins extra protection when in transit so grab some of them as well.

We have not long got back from an extended trip that included the Gulf of Carpentaria, the Kimberlie's, the Pilbara and the WA interior and were away  for about 8 months.
On our return I found that the termites had had a field day with the house so the last 2-3 months has seen me renovating the bathroom, Laundry and kitchen repairing the damage done by the little blighters.
I Have checked my coins for any damage and all seems to be in order and I am playing "Catch Up" reading various coin articles and also catching up on a bucket load of "Unread Posts".

I haven't Given up collecting and still have much of my collection, I merely downsized it, Lets see what happens.

Apparently PCGS don't use gloves when handling coins is this true?

I have heard that too but don't know if it's true - I think someone on CCF said they got a coin back with a finger-print.

Gloves are not generally required for handling coins. Coins are somewhat more resilient than that. On the other hand, gloves can make it a little harder to handle the coins and wearing them may make coins more prone to dropping.
