What's the use of the mobile press if these were pre stamped well before the show took place.

Hercules

Thanks, Shane.

Nup. Aluminium bronze blanks don't have overstamps.

I think the only reason they prestamped them was because the Melbourne and Perth shows coincide, and the mobile press was in Melbourne that week.

Finally, Shane, are you able to determine why the mintage of the 2015 ANZAC: The Spirit Lives "Australia" counterstamp coin isn't listed in the annual reports?

If the unwanted/needed Perth countestamps were simply chucked into the vat of blanks then we indeed will have overstamps :ok:

I have only been to one Perth coin show and they had to lines at the RAM counter. First lane you could wait in a long line to mint your own coin. Second line you could go straight to the counter and buy the same coin without waiting. :)

I received today the following from the RAM re the 2015 "P" Counterstamp $1 ANZAC:

Interalia:
Thank you for contacting the Royal Australian Mint.

I understand your enquiry relates to 2015 $1 AlBr Uncirculated ANZAC Centenary: 'P' Counterstamp.

The Royal Australian Mint manufactured 4 counterstamp versions of the 2015 $1 AlBr Uncirculated ANZAC Centenary Coin for various events around Australia.

A 2015 $1 AlBr Uncirculated ANZAC Centenary: 'P' Counterstamp Coin was produced with the intention of selling them exclusively at the Perth Show that year, however the Royal Australian Mint's appearance at the 2015 Perth Show did not eventuate, and subsequently the 2015 $1 AlBr Uncirculated ANZAC Centenary: 'P' Counterstamp Coins produced by the Mint were not released.

These coins were recycled into aluminium bronze blanks for future coin production requirements.

That reply should be an end to this discussion.

Yep....same reply as I got as per page 3 of this post. Looks like the RAM can copy and paste!

Considering the number of emails they get each day, I'm not surprised. I reckon they have a bunch of "standard" responses that they continually reuse, which have been carefully vetted by their legal team.

I could be wrong but as far as I know these are the only 100 Years of Anzac coins released so far. Totaling 8
2014 - Standard circulating coin
2014 - Albany (AL) counterstamp
2014 - Melbourne (M) counterstamp
2015 - Standard circulating coin
2015 - Spirit Lives Australia Map counterstamp
2016 - Standard circulating coin
2016 - Changeover Tour Australia Map counterstamp
2017 - Standard circulating coin

There will be a 2018 Standard one I presume, plus counterstamps etc.

Thanks for your contribution, Mike. We were actually talking about the ANZAC Centenary coin, which was struck with a "P" counterstamp for the Perth Royal Show in 2015, but was never actually sold there, and was later melted down to make other coins. We thought the mint might have confused it with the 2015 100 Years of ANZAC: The Spirit Lives coin, but further investigation shows that this wasn't the case.

Sorry Hercules . . Got my coins mixed up. Apologies.

With that particular $1 coin I believe these are the only ones round ....

Anzac Centenary - (C) Public Press at the RAM

Out of the 4 coin mint set
Anzac Centenary - (C) Mintmark
Anzac Centenary - (B) Privymark
Anzac Centenary - (M) Privymark
Anzac Centenary - (S) Privymark

Then this one.
