Some nice instruments there interest, a Fender as well :good: :music: This has reminded me of a period when I wrote twenty or so song lyrics, just for my  own amusement mind you, and can't sing to save myself, tone deaf and the three working fingers on my left hand struggle to fumble with a couple of cords on the fret board. Anyhow, to cut a long story short, I entered two sets of lyrics in the Australian song writers contest five or six years ago and to my surprise both made the top 25. No cigar though, only the top 10 get a mention.

Great to see and read about collections and abilities@ like song writing.
I may be a bit duller
Certainly my veggie gardening is a huge hobby for me. It's where I zone out and go into the serenity of chickens and dirt land. Ex annoying neighbour's. I am in a few gardening groups on Facebook as well and really enjoy being active with the organic growing groups.

My other smaller hobbies are collecting babuskha dolls
Taking photos
I used to sew a lot and put the machine on the dining table a few weeks ago.  It remains there dusted off but no further action.  Ha ha  I need to figure out what to sew. We do need new curtains so that might be an up and coming project.
The hubby has a few guitars and I always enjoy listening to him play guitar  & sing.  Occasionally he goes busking and that is a hoot.

I also enjoy swimming.  Not sure if that is a hobby.

We have one female Ringneck that 'self barbers' her chest feathers, mainly during breeding season.  Once she moults she looks beautiful until she gets all clucky again.

She's bright yellow and while she's barbering nearly all the colour is gone from her chest and mostly just fluffy white down is left.

My son acquired her through an ad on Gumtree, where she had been found and the person didn't want to keep her, so he gave her away after his ad had run for 6 weeks. She had obviously been handled and has grown to love my son.

I reckon she was a breeding bird that got too old for the job and the breeder let her loose and of course she could not fend for herself as she had both wings clipped and could barely fly.

Despite being clucky for months at a time, she's never laid any eggs and we've had her now for about 10 years.

Last time we were down your way our daughter took us out to a great stretch of water at a crossing on the Murrumbidgee River I think it was. What a fantastic spot just 20 minutes or so from Canberra

Yup. Last one I did was a rubber tree with spaghnum moss and glad wrap, but I've tripped over an easier method.

Slice up a PET bottle in such a way that you can get it over a branch, fill with a suitable moisture-retaining mixture, put the end of the bottle back on, tape it up and cover with aluminium foil. Wait a while for rootball to form, cut off and plant.

You can't plant the seeds, cos they won't breed true, and it will take five years or so to find out if they're duds.

My only other hobby is stamp collecting, but that really has gone on the back burner since I got more into coins. :)

Yes AC, the Fender Strat is a nice guitar which I play a fair bit, but would you believe the black Tele copy has a better action & better to play it cost me $75 back in 1977, the Aria accoustic is an Everly bros copy, It is really great to play has a full sound & an action as good as any electric guitar I kid you not, have had that since 1975 got it because some fool fell on my Maton & snapped the neck.
You know that "Django" Reinhardt one of the all time great guitarist only had three fingers.
I've written a stack of songs myself some of the melodies are ok but they never seem to have a "hook" & always just lack something.
Lucky you for even getting into the top 25 well done they must have had something to warrant that, good onya.

Hi AJ bought the 12 string on Gumtree couple years back had a high action & very hard to play so I adjusted the truss rod, shaved the bridge put on a set of lighter strings & bingo one nicely set up guitar which stays in tune, but I don't play it all that much still a lot harder to play than a 6 string & doesn't sound as clean unless I play some Eagles songs or the Seekers LOL. also have a Bass which I played in a band back in the day, but I have joined a UKULELE club, it seems that "old men play Ukulele's" these days they are no longer considered toys this group gets together weekly & play the Ukulele. They are very easy to play & a lot of fun.

Hi interest, Sounds like you are very accomplished Mate, most people would love to have your talent. My one and only guitar is a Dove copy by Suzuki which I've had since 74, so have had plenty of time to develope any hidden  brilliance :derisive: but just a shocker  Noticed a beatles figurine in your display case; this is a painting of the Beatles done by our Daughter. It's not quite finished, but I think she captured the slightly surreal look she was after  :)
