Mister T

I looked through $120 worth of 50c pieces and didn't see a single 2000 Millenium or 2001 state - very disappointing.
I got a 2010 Fiji 5c piece from three rolls which was quite surprising - I don't see many Fijian coins usually but the 2010 is smaller and lighter so it did well to get into a roll.

Hercules

I just found a 1975 5t coin from Papua New Guinea. It was the only exciting discovery from $24 worth of 5c coins.

rollycoins

Got these after going through:
$300 worth of $2
$80 worth of 50 cents
$80 worth of 10 cents
$40 worth of 5 cents

Not too bad a haul I reckon

It should be working now. Had some issues with the links last night.

I think you've done very well with the 5c and 10c Changeover coins, whereas the 50c and $2 ones seem to be on par with what I'm finding. That's also quite a high strike rate for the 2011 10c, but not completely unheard of. The partial collar strike is a very good find - I've only got two in my collection (dated 1987 and 1996). The 2013 Coronation and 2015 ANZAC $2 coins are also extremely hard to find, so you've done well to get both of them within a single $300 batch.

:wavemulticolor:

Do you know whether your 1972 5c is the large echidna (low SD) or the small echidna (high SD) version? Could you please also tell me what's so special about the bottom 1999 10c? The top two are the large head version, but the bottom one looks like a small head, so I'm not sure why you included it in the photo.

Sorry for the delay, but I'm not so sure about that haha. I've included a photo of it if it helps? I've also got a few others that I've noodled recently. What do you guys think about it?

This is the 1972 5 cent coin:

$2 coin - partial collar?

Not sure what to call these die fills, strike through grease or if they are just worn out? 6 in 1976 is missing in the top picture and again 6 is missing from 1996 from the second one.

Well done Rollycoins!
Collar errors are hard to find. Pretty sure I have only found 1 (a 10c).
I think the last photo might be damage by something like acid.

Unicorn

That's pretty cool Rolly, I've not seen a partial collar on a $2 before! :good:

Thanks Ozcoins and Unicorn! It isn't very clear on the photos, but the $2 coin shows an uneven thickness as well - thin on one end and thicker on the other. It just appeared as a very misaligned coin when I first saw it, then I realised the rims were off as well haha.

Hercules

Well done, Rolly! The only collar errors I've found were on the 5c, which seems to be much more prone to this than the other denominations. I think the 10c is the next most common, so you've done very well to get it on a $2. :yahoo:

Your 1972 5c looks like the small echidna (high SD) variety, which is the more common of the two, and means that it was minted during the middle or latter part of the 1972 production run. The early ones all have the large echidna (low SD), which was used in previous years and included in the 1972 mint sets (which were mostly destroyed by PVC). Conversely, the small echidna (high SD) was used from 1972 to 1987, before being superseded by the large echidna (low SD) from 1984 onwards (both versions were used in 1984, 1986 and 1987).

So far, I've noodled two 1972 5c with the large echidna (low SD) reverse, and three with the small echidna (high SD) reverse. I also found one of the small echidna (high SD) reverse ones in change back in 2009, but I didn't know to check which type it was until last year. Finding any 1972 5c is exciting, but finding the large echidna (low SD) variety is the most exciting of all. :)

Went through $300 of $2 rolls yesterday and picked up the following:
- 1x 1990 Aboriginal Elder
- 1x 2012 Plain Poppy
- 1x 2012 Aboriginal Elder
- 1x 2011 Aboriginal Elder
- 1x 2013 Queen's Coronation (with gum all over the obverse :()
- 2x 2016 Changeover
- 1x 2017 Possum Magic Invisible Hush (week 1)

ausjack

I'd try putting the one with gum on it in the freezer to get it to go hard and then use a toothpick to try and lift it off, or try acetone.
A wise person knows there is something to learn from everyone.

Thanks for the tip mate! I used acetone last night. Got most of it off, but it's probably been there for a while and left a white mark on the areas the gum used to cover. I'll try the freezer method next time.
