anyways the girls were lovely when we went in and they looked around to give us the lowest serial numbers that they had which was really sweet
they said that they didn't receive any AA's  

it was very exciting - i have never been to a reserve bank to buy money ever before in my life (or any other bank)

The letter prefixes as per the sheets.

I did have a cheat sheet with all the layouts showing which notes went where on the sheet. However with the new numbering system, that may have gone out the window. Although it does look, from the TV footage I saw, that the sheets are still the same size, with 40 notes. So assuming they still stop at M (and why wouldn't they?) the prefixes I previously posted would work once you allow for AA rather than BA being the first note on the sheet.

Make sense?

i only went to the main bank just in case i could get some AA's
no luck but grabbed some anyways, because well, i could!

For me, never in Australia, but I have been to the reserve bank in Fiji a few times -bought coins and notes and, last time, cashed in old $5 notes (when they changed currency they allowed banks to accept old currency for three months and, after that, only could be exchanged at reserve bank, Suva).
It could be more than three months before some of us in country areas actually see our new notes!

One of my work colleagues has a friend working at the RBA. The staff were given a new $5 in a presentation folder. My work colleague showed me a picture of it from his Facebook feed and I was able to take a picture.

Is this the same as the one from Aussie Post, or different? In the past I believe they did something special for their staff.



If it is special then it would be a very nice thing to have indeed.

Just checked ebay - first prefixes are going for outrageous prices. Run of 10 - $699, single - $59. I hope the hoopla dies down soon and we can all get a first prefix at a reasonable price.
