For a Sedan alternative, that ticks all the Safety Boxes and is a very sporty drive when you wish it to be :-
Honda Accord Euro Luxury, to stay within your $ range
a Gen7 2005-2007. (The Luxury Model includes All the goodies, the Standard Model does not.)
Exclude the 2003=2004 models.

The car has a Major Service at 100K which it Must have done,
it's an expensive service but critical.

From Carsales http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Honda-Accord-Euro-2005/SSE-AD-3411403/?Cr=30

The vehicle in the link is wearing Gen8 wheels.

Thanks fordperfect I had heard off the Honda Accord though I didn't know you could pick up one that recent.

The Accord Euro is a very nice car. Well worth considering.
Thinking is dangerous, it makes you think. That\'s why many people avoid it.

I had an Accord Euro in 2007 - 2009 (MY07)... Driving pleasure perspective, it was better than driving a similar age European cars. You should take one for a spin and see what you think. That car goes alright as well.
Collecting coins is not about having the best, but loving what you have ...

I have a Honda Crv with the same engine. Love it, not a sports car but smooth to drive, low maintance and cheap to repair/service.

Not the same engine serial, the CRV shared the Big Accords 2.4 engine the Euro motor was from their iVtec range, a +20% power boost.

If what i read on Forums can be believed the Honda íVtec models have a major service to replace the cam belt(amongst other things) that costs $1500+.May have my Honda models mixed thou.

How are you going with choosing a car?

robbiegal

maybe hold off on the car for a little while ............

Ozcoins

Hmmm...
I was thinking it's a major happy occasion to get your first car.

robbiegal

true, it can be real fun

although being a parent of young blokes
the headache comes when the lads need rego, new tyres or late night roadside assistance from Dad!!

trout

I gave my young bloke my old Nissan 4wd ute.
Nothing wrong with the old girl, I even chucked a new set of 265 tyres on it for him.
His roadside assistance from Dad is the Box of tools I chucked on the tray for him :):yahoo:
This is his first 4wd so I have put a new snatch strap under the passenger seat in his car and one in mine for that bloody midnight distress call when he gets hopelessly bogged an I will have to drag him out  :laugh2:

yeah - no use stressing out about picking a car when you are already stressed
uni, work , feeling overloaded and/or depressed along with feelings of  loneliness are tough enough

my son had a couple of years on his own and was very lonely

he tried hard to get a girlfriend and a couple of times the rejection that he went through broke our hearts - let alone how he was feeling

so after barking up the wrong tree quite a few times he gave up and focussed on his uni and work and his mates - who were all busy getting married and having kids by then

then one of the students he was in class with started having coffee with him
regularly
and he really liked her but was too scared to make a pass at her

she took the initiative, asked him if he liked her and would he like to take her out on a date

a year later they are still going strong ....

so you never know what is around that corner
but I appreciate that the wait and that sense of uncertainty can be a painful one

all of our kids say that they really appreciated our friendship and support when they went through their rough patches ... parents can be there through thick and thin - we can't make everything change but we do try to help where we can
all you gotta do is let them know that you need them
