$200. I hadn't seen Chris since before Xmas. He was in fine form, a born raconteur if somewhat jaded with the industry. Maybe he's been in it for too long. I bought some other coins as well but they belong in a different thread.

He knows exactly what my collecting goal is (PCGS pre-decimal slabs) and its fun chatting as he rummages through his boxes of stock pulling out coins, asking "have you got one of these?" He also knows I have a spending limit for each visit. As we get towards the end of the session he pulls out two coins saying "these are $200 each easy, any day of the week, this coin on its own is worth that!" I say "um ar, I can only afford one, I'll take the penny". Quick as a flash he fires back OK, "$300 for the pair" and what can I say but OK, sure, ya got me.

Um is there a thread for penny pictures? Its a 1942Y. (the dot is tiny) MS63RB. I don't want to muck up trouts thread with copper coins.

Here is another 1927PH MS64 which sold on Facebook the other day for $230. I think I would have bought this one given half a chance, its nicer than mine.

Bugger it, here goes:

I'll put the penny in a Canberra Florin sandwich - another MS64 for sale on Facebook:

good on you
I think that 1942 in ms 63 is harder than your florin in ms64
nice penny - must be a soft dot

that first florin is very nice
but I think your one would also look very nice in the hand

"In Hand" the coin looks far better the underlying lustre is really good and it has pink to purple hues all over  the coin.
Well worth the $175 in my opinion :good::dance2:

Keep working at it. I suggest a modest target for stage 1. Say to get to where there are only 1,999,000 you don't have.
Thinking is dangerous, it makes you think. That\'s why many people avoid it.
