Long list of what the mint can't do and control. But this gives me hope!

QuoteIn the past with previous circulating coins, the Mint has held coin swap and counterstamp opportunities. There may be opportunities in the future for this but this has not yet been confirmed. Please keep an eye on our website or social media channels for any updates.

I suspect the RAM is probably a little pleased that they have created yet another swell of interest in a scarce coin. Bit like a treasure hunt at a kid's party!

And how pleased should they be that they have pissed off lots of collectors?

"As the distribution process has only recently commenced, it may take a few weeks before you start seeing the coin in your change." I await advice here from the first person to find one in change -I won't hold my breath.
Thinking is dangerous, it makes you think. That\'s why many people avoid it.

Pedro

I guess you have to be at the "right" party Jeff otherwise they are going to be hard to find :(

I disagree
I think there is a storm brewing over this from Treasury
I suspect next time we will see ballots for the first issue of these coins/rolls

I think that might be a bit harsh.
I read it more as "Here is how it works"

How does everyone think it should be done?  I am pretty sure that the mint is not capable of the actual distribution.

All I know is we never see these special issue $2 coins here in the West, They always get distributed on the Eastern seaboard and the only way to acquire a decent example of these is to pay through the nose on eBay.
I will wait a year and when the dust settles I will get the coins I want at a realistic price :ok:

I am in Sydney.
The only coloured $2 I have personally received,  I spotted in the checkout till and asked for.
My conclusion is that these coins basically do not circulate, so no matter where, or how, they are released, you are unlikely to see them.

I had plenty of the 2013 and 2014 issues at one stage. You should have told me you were looking for one and I would have sent you one

Thanks for that Peter, I have these now.
I will wait a while and pick up the 2015 coin in due time :)
No real problem there are 1.5 Million of these and once the feeding frenzy dies down I will quietly walk in and pick one up :yahoo:

They could do what they did with the 2013, purple, Coronation $2 and sell direct (mail order). Hopefully if they ever do that again they will include decent condition coins and not badly marked ones like they did before.
Swap days are fine only if you live near a major metropolitan centre -no good for us country folk.

I think the little Baggie idea worked rather well before and should be available with every new issue, Not only the $2 coins. :good:

I live in can berry and I have never received any of the colored $2 in change

Pedro

No wonder you haven't found any - even the RAM don't put coins in berry cans (sorry RG couldn't resist!)
