Hi Kel,

Yes, as far as I am aware the 1992 $5 serial colours included light green, medium/dark green and black (Renniks doesn't mention black either).

is it true that we cannot post any coins over to the united states any more ???

I was told this at the post office this morning .      ,, kel ,,

I don't believe it , but they would not except the package from me .

Eric , Walter , trout , and others send coins over every day to PCGS

to be graded , it made no difference to him , he would not take it ..

I just use Airmail + Extra Cover which should include signature on delivery , and declare as numismatic material.
You don't have to tell them what's in the parcel do you ?

keldaw

rob , they said to me what is in the package and I said gifts , then she said to me what kind of gifts and I said coins and she then said sorry you cant send coins into the united states any more , and if you send them ,they will only send them back to you or destroy them on you ..    ,, kel ,,

Sorry Kel, I've miss quoted you  but it was fun. :yahoo: I feel like a media person :dodgy:

Thinking about your question though, yes, under these circumstances, what could  happen to TPG submissions?

Since when did all this happen.

I sent a EBay purchased coins several months ago to the USA, no problems.

Australia Post have always had the rule that you cannot send money in the mail. We always say tokens for coins and paper notes are called documents.

Jens is correct; The problem is at Australia Post's end, not USPS. Your postal worker is misinformed, in that it's not a new rule, and it's not just to America; it's always been against regulations to send money in non-Registered mail, and "coins" are money. Since Registered mail doesn't cover overseas mail, there is no proper way to send coins overseas.

If you don't want to lie on a customs form, say "stamped metal discs" instead of "coins". It's still technically true. Or, if that's too weaselly for you, try "numismatic items". It's absolutely true and you've got a pretty good chance nobody in the postal system between you and the recipient will know what "numismatic" means.

The registered post tear away slip has coins listed as OK but they have to be carefully packed. It days banknotes are mot covered. Domestic post. If it's pre decimal I always put medallion or token.

I always say, "Hobby Items"......so far it works.
