Here is the Australia Post rule, which can be found here Dangerous and prohibited goods and packaging guide;

D3.2 – Banknotes and coins
Banknotes are currency notes that are legal tender in the country of issue.
Australian notes of whatever age, currency or denomination are legal tender
within Australia.
Coins are coinage in either Australian or foreign currency and includes coins
made from precious metals whether or not such coins have a denomination.
Australia Post prohibits banknotes or currency notes and coins in:
•the International Post
•all services within Australia, except Registered Post, or a parcel service in
conjunction with Extra Cover and Signature on Delivery.
In Registered Post or parcel services when used in conjunction with
Extra Cover and Signature on Delivery within Australia, Australia Post
accepts banknotes or coins to a maximum face value of A$200 in any one
consignment. However, Australia Post accepts no liability for the loss of or
damage to any such articles containing banknotes.

This is the latest revision of the document, dated December 2014. My previous comment about no specific restriction on international post is now wrong and out of date.

I have sent hundreds of coins over to the US to be graded and every time I simply put "Numismatic Items" on the description and I haven't had any dramas whatsoever.

I strongly suggest that you use a different Post Office , The one you are using at the moment is making things all too hard for you mate.
I would personally tell whoever is giving you this ridicules "Run Around" where to shove his little rubber stamp and take my business elsewhere :ok:

hi all , can somebody help me please ?
 
 we went into town today and we met up with a family who have 4 children  , 3 girls and 1 boy , this boy is 8 years of age , .
I asked him what he got from santa ??
 his answer to me was some Woolworth cards , I almost cried when he said that ..
 what I want to know is , if anybody have any spare Woolworth cards and don't want them , could you please send them to me so I can pass them on to him please ? his smile is worth a thousand words I believe . if I get some ,  I believe I can buy him a book that holds the cards so they can be keep ted together for him . thank you very much in advance for your help , please post to me at .
