After finding a radar on my first note, I found nothing else throughout the remainder. Such is the life of a Noodler!

My experience with quite a few good $5 and $100 paper notes from a cash-in at the bank (went through around $5k and only picked the best ones) is that there is little demand for them. Selling some on eBay I mostly received enough premium on face to almost pay the fees. I ended up cashing them back in so they could be returned for shredding/incineration. I could not afford to keep them.

My conclusion was that high face value notes are not popular because of the amount of money you have to tie up just to cover the tender amount.
Slightly different situation to Kel but sinilar sort of end result.
Thinking is dangerous, it makes you think. That\'s why many people avoid it.

that's fine I am collection long term and am happy to let the money sit in the safety deposit box

For my collecting purposes, I have to agree with JeffH.

The $100 are way out of my price range and even the $50s are starting to get a little on the nose. Happy to squirrel the odd one or two away, but can't afford a year type collection.

serial, how did you get to noodle through $300k? That is some hardcore noodling. Hats off to you.

I spent half a day at the bank. I didn't do as much as I wanted but I have organised to go back for a whole day.

So how does that work? The bank lets you sit in their waiting area, noodling through bundles of notes which you exchange each time you've sorted through a pile? Sounds great, but would look a little odd. I haven't yet found a bank that is overly accommodating when I ask for large amounts of a single denomination. They often oblige, but I get the feeling they don't like doing it. The local bank here doesn't have a counting machine so they have to count each deposit/withdrawl by hand.

same here jeff , just what you say , so true ,

the other reason is selling on ebay .

if you sell one $ 100.00 note on ebay for $ 110.00 you make $ 10.00
profit , ok ebay take $ 10.00 for their cost , buyer pays by paypal , so you are out of profit straight away then you even pay extra on postage you charge the buyer , if you give free postage then you lose more by paying the postage yourself ..  how can you win . I now find that making out the for sale listing on ebay annoying to me .

even test notes , radars and repeaters , are not worth the trouble , no body wants them anymore. ..       ,, kel ,,

even selling a  $ 20.00 note , if you get $ 25.00 for it , pay your fees
pack and post and then see what you are left with ..

ebay don't just charge fees on the profit you make  , you even pay

them $ 2.00 on your own $ 20.00 note , so you must get $ 22.00 at least to come out square , then start to make some profit after that ..

I cant go into to much details but its all secure where I am and essentially you are right. people have got to know me as a harmless weirdo and they accommodate me a bit more
I don't mind storing lots of notes in my safety deposit box my note collection is about long term gain

Goldseeker

The only real noodling on noted I have done was when I withdrew $20k from the bank several weeks ago and looked at each note.
