That '38 is taken with a DSLR and Dedicated Macro lens.

Keep at it the end results are worth it.

My tip is, pick only nice looking coins to begin with.
An ugly looking coin no matter how well photographed
will allways be an ugly photo.

Thanks Mate.
I am happy with it as it shows the coin as it is .
Fantastic strike and damn near perfect reverse but the obverse is letting this one down with "cabinet wear" :dash1:
Anyway a three stepper with full lustre is a "Keeper" as far as I am concerned regardless of the unfortunate obverse :good:

These are the first images I have taken which allows me to 'tether' my camera to my laptop.!! I can now focus using controls on the p.c..!
The software lifts the mirror and allows (I hope) to minimise any shake.

P.S. These are those 'ugly' coins your parents warned you about.:dodgy:

Just like sneeking a D7100 Nikon Body into play hey :dodgy:
That Tokina of your's will perform better if you up the
aperture setting to F8-F11, it's optical sharpness peak.

For background choice, Stick with neutrals at first.
Black white or grey.
The best chance to lift that colour that is there.
