Yes very nice coins. Edwardus looks like the type to have a beer with. Anyone have any grade opinions, problems or pointers with my 1937 Crown post here last night? Im feeling left out :icon_cry:

Don't feel left out, it's what can happen when your post is the last item on a thread page. (Everyone looks at the new page).

I've never owned a 37 crown but it looks like yours may have had a clean somewhere in it's past. I agree that the eyebrow marks look like a minting (bucket) clash, but with nothing to compare it to, it's just my thoughts.

Sorry, I missed it.  It's got some residual lustre but is otherwise pretty banged around.  gVF perhaps.

Thanks markn/unicorn. gVF sounds ok, thankfully its more for the beauty of the coin than the value. I dont like the sound of a clean tho, I assume thats the fine parallel scratches. I wasnt sure if that was a deliberate clean, or just some unintentional rub against something at some point.

It is just rim dings from the other coins hitting each other when they were binned during the mi ting process.  Very common.

OK OK I'm a day early
I was hoping to do a "Show and Tell" on a rather nice 1,1/2 penny but it didn't arrive and there is NO mail on Saturdays here.
I did however pick this up from the post office today.
The reverse has great surfaces less 1 small hit just below the "N" in COMMONWEALTH ( you have to angle the coin to see it) also a small rim ding at 12oclock and a rather Good strike.
The obverse is also nicely struck with nice clean Fields, However there is the usual "Rub" on the Kings Cheek and a tiny "Hit" on the truncation of his neck.
These are sooo hard to find without a single mark due to their size and the fact that not many people liked these when they were issued.
All in all a reasonable coin :)

does the mail come on Saturdays now?
doesn't at our post office

nice crown (by the way)

I picked up 7 kilos of post 1946 aussie silver coins last week-end

long story as to how I got them

not that keen on the silvers so I wasn't all that interested in the lot
until I weighed them and then calculated the silver content!

I love noodling silver :yahoo:
I dumped all my reject silver when it hit $48 per ounce a while back.
I have since accumulated a few more kilo's by buying the odd silver lots and looking for "Gems" , not many gems but the odd errors that are interesting but the junk bucket is starting to get "Fat" again

these are most certainly not gems - all ave circ but there may be some errors if you know what you're looking for

only got one nice coin from the silver lot - a nice 1958 6p

but did get a few of those 1968 two cents with two of them being very nice
and then some 1968 one cents as well
