The rim thing looks like a flaw rather than a knock, what does it look like in hand?

Yes its a rim flaw not damage.
I believe that the use of chrome plated dies started in 1941.
I could be wrong.
Does anyone know ?

There was a discussion about a month back where florins were discussed and someone mentioned that they were used for some 1954 florins. That is why I raised the point as nobody chimed in then to refer to earlier chrome dies.
Is there any reference for 1941 or was it something that you picked up yonks ago?
Edit to add: did a google and found that a 1943 MS62 florin was on eBay last month with reference to Melb Mint being a leader in using chrome plated dies.

Goldseeker

I was a very lucky bloke this day as I was able to secure 60 x 1966 50c pieces today for $7.50 per coin.

My bulk holdings is now 666 pieces as pictured with a little extra thrown in:

1941 as the first year of chrome plated strikes is from my observations only.
I've seen chrome plated strikes for many years 1941 to 1963 - Melbourne only.
I'd say that some are scarce and others rare.
Some have chrome obverses and regular reverses and vice versa.
The above example is not the best but I believe its chrome.

Nice Jim, crowns are always a nice addition.

I added some silver coins to my collection this week, thanks to Nancy.
The pics aren't the best. My set up struggles with smaller coins, unlike Markn's new set up.
This is just a sample of them...
