I'm with trout and think it might be just a little too scuffed up to get MS but still a nice worthy coin :good:

oh my florin

I would agree that the coin is in the AU range but the marks are just too much for me to put it into the AU55-58 range. My personal preference would be AU50-53 due to the extent of the marks. Nevertheless a very attractive coin.

p.s. I may just be harder on it because of the extent of the marks?

any coin with that age [105 years ] deserves the best ,

 congratulations serial .
take care because we care ..

As we age we lose three things, one is our memory and arrrrr I've forgotten the other two!

ausjack

Yeah agree auto as it does look better on the reverse rather than the obverse.

Hi AJ, do you know if the TPG's do split grades? Me being in the raw so to speak, I'm not familiar with how they operate :biggrin::laugh2:

serial

That's the problem with this coin series. Being a 1 year only it has been hard for me to understand how they grade them. Been looking at them a while now and was willing to roll the dice on this one raw. The alternative was to outlay $1k+ for one slabbed.
And as usual it looks much better in hand with full cartwheel except in a few small spots in the fields. I will send of soon and let you all know how it goes

I hope you do well with it but they tend to like toning so it will be interesting to see how yours comes back, good luck and hope it reaches the MS :good:

I'm still trying to work pcgs out :scratch_one-s_head: just look at Eric's site at the last two 20 cents he listed http://www.drakesterling.com/coins-for-sale to me looking at them the 2015 should be a higher grade that the 2004 but both got MS67 so you just never know and I think the same with some of the slabs I have here and wonder what I'm missing, one day I hope to work it out :dodgy:

To be totally honest mate I'm not sure so hope one of the guns step in on this as I'd also like to know but I would suppose that's where they look at the hole coin and grade accordingly to the scale but then the + they sometimes give still has me confused as well..sorry I'm no help auto :(

Your coin is at least as nice as that one and I wouldn't be surprised at all with a MS62-63 result.
Well done :good:

just "Musing" why doesn't PCGS do the same as NGC when you do a submission.
PCGS just lists your coins as received and NGC update the progress of your coins as they move up the line (which is nice).
They both take about the same amount of time to give you the grades but it IS nice to see how the submission is progressing

I would think that is natural toning.I bought this coin because it looked uncleaned to me and a reasonably high grade

Are those images "scans"
I can't make out the surface detail or the quality of the lustre from these.
