Another totally random post. I read an article in the SMH about the z8_GND_5296 Galaxy. Apparently it's light has only taken 13.1 Billion Years to get here, which I guess makes it around 123,935,569,190,808,000,000,000 kms away. Go Hubble Bubble!!!

Better add the Star Trek (NG) Theme I suppose ......

Think I might go there for my next holiday.

From the Wiki page (you just knew there had to be one, right?):

z8_GND_5296, discovered in 2013, was announced as the most distant galaxy ever found. It is "just 700 million years after the Big Bang, when the universe was only about 5 percent of its current age of 13.8 billion years". The galaxy is at a redshift of 7.51, and it is neighbour to what was announced then as second most distant galaxy with a redshift of 7.2. The galaxy produces stars at a phenomenal rate, equivalent in mass to about 300 suns per year. Because of the expansion of the universe, the galaxy is about 30 billion light-years away from Earth.

Yeah, I think the 30 billion is a typo (30 does sound like 13 when spoken). If it's 13.8b years old (-700m big bang), then light must travel a hell of a lot faster out there somewhere.
The wiki on distant objects seems to have it correct.

No... the speed of light is constant, but the universe is expanding.
