although the red ones are worth less that the original
 sell prices

Which red ones? The poppies or the ANZAC ones? I still think both coins are highly valuable, and would be willing to pay a premium for them if they were in good nick, especially if they didn't have any toning. :)

interest

A surprise today, received an 2014 100 years of ANZAC the spirit lives.
In very good nick, maybe somebody let it go on Anzac day.
Good find

Hercules

They probably lost interest after they found some of the 2016 ones or bought a few bags of the 2017 ones. The dates matter to serious coin collectors like us, but to the average person, they're all the same. Then again, maybe they just spent it at the pokies because they thought they were about to win big. ;)

interest didnt say where they got the coin

Picked up a green Olympic $2 at Coles today. Haven't seen one of them floating around for a while.

Nice work, Pedro! I've noodled 3 this year, but they're getting harder to find now.

seedyrom

My son got this in his change today. It's pretty smashed up.
First time I'd seen one ... which is odd, as I've now read that they released over 6 million of them.

I guess it depends on where you live. I've never found any of those ones in change, but I've managed to noodle 13 of them over the last 15 months. Conversely, a family member went to Melbourne recently and picked one up in change, so I suspect they're a lot more common down there than up here.

JeffH

They must nearly all have come to this area. Here are my spares (63 of them from noodling) and I have thrown back a similar number not so good condition. I also sold thirty to a collector in South Australia -maybe not common there. I have also picked up a few in change.
Thinking is dangerous, it makes you think. That\'s why many people avoid it.

Pedro

You've cornered the market again Jeff! :laugh2:

I still get very excited whenever I find an International Women's Day coin, especially when it's been well-looked after.

Here are some of my noodling stats:

2011 Wedding: 13 (Mintage: 10.1 million)
2011 Women: 13 (Mintage: 6.8 million)
2011 Volunteers: 27 (Mintage: 6.1 million)
2013: Canberra: 38 (Mintage: 6.2 million)

Now let's convert these to percentages:

2011 Wedding: 14% (Mintage: 35%)
2011 Women: 14% (Mintage: 23%)
2011 Volunteers: 30% (Mintage: 21%)
2013: Canberra: 42% (Mintage: 21%)

What the hell is going on here? Why are the two with the lowest mintages the easiest for me to find in circulation? :dontknow:

marksy

That's the only 20 cent I'm missing, and now I know why haha.

Found in change is different to noodling
