The $1 is the go-to souvenir for MANY somethings. They wanted to add to their souvenir production, not replace it. And they've done a sterling job of it, much as I don't like how it was handled.

The machinery is in place to handle $2 coins. And volumes in the 2 mil range. It won't do ten million $1 coins. So you will see another 2 mil 2014 $2 coins, for sure.
