A good day yesterday. We were in the the final carriage going out and that was, of course, the front carriage returning. Opened the window returning to get full advantage of the sounds and smell. Numbers were limited to allow covid safe spacing so the two of us had a block of four facing seats.
Cruising speed on the flat was around 90km/hr but obviously slower up the spiral. On the return at the down line spiral bypass the driver let it have its head, I guess we hit somewhere around 115 to 120km/hr.

Here are a few photos. [More available if you are interested -email me. Or just go to Transport Heritage NSW]

Waiting for a train.

Here it is.

Ready to depart

The track parallels the road most of the way so lots of spectators waiting for us to pass. This chap didn't wait, just pulled to beside us and slowed slightly to hold station, for around 5km, while his passenger took photos. I don't think the people in the long queue behind him were very impressed -they either wanted a turn beside the locomotive or had seen enough and looking to be on their way.
Thinking is dangerous, it makes you think. That\'s why many people avoid it.

I forget to mention the Southern Aurora train was also there. Parked in a siding at Junee it is a mobile hotel for the 3801 staff.
It will be in Wagga now, where this photo was taken.
