We sent 6 coins in an error submission earlier this year and it ended up costing $106AUD per coin for the grading and shipping.

No I just noted the clip on the regular submission form

Is that normal for PCGS to note clips on regular submissions? I've a few nice clips and double clips (and one triple clip) that I've considered getting slabbed but at about $100 a coin for error submissions it has crimped my passion to get them slabbed. At $30-35 for regular it makes it feasible. Anybody else submitted clips as regular without problems (like bodybagging as incomplete coins) and properly identified as a clip?
BTW why do they call it a 1% clip without specifying it (straight edge, ragged edge etc)? Would they call a double clip as 2% or as 2X1% or whatever?

I am not sure if it a standard practice but PCGS have been rather accommodating lately, Not only did they note the clip on this coin they have also noted my broken "N" coins as well.

As far as the 1% clip goes I imagine that PCGS considered that 1% of the coin is missing due to this clip, If the clip was larger I imagine it would be noted at a higher percentage .

PCGS has recognised, rightly or wrongly, the broken "N", as a variety, rather than an error, which is why they're on the population report now.

It sounds like you sent the coin back after it first was described as simply XF40 with the error ignored. Under what service level did you send it back? Did you send it back under a "mechanical error" submission to have it fixed up or did you crack it out and send it back under another regular or economy submission?

I didn't send it back or crack it out.
It was simply sent with a few other coins in a world economy submission.
