What are those things?

Not all of us speak Aborigine?

Those Indian rules are so harsh, so like they expect you to arrive in the country penniless or buy your rupees in India?

Boogie boarding aluminium coins into Indonesia - hilarious, forget about the Bali Nine, we could have a news report "Indonesians sentence Australian to death for smuggling contraband" - Not cocaine, Heroin or Shabu (Meth), but about $3.50 worth of alumimium 100 rupiah coins"

Lets do some more klassic and kreamy kollectable koins with Tane
We have an amazing groat (4d) from England and its of Bloody Mary before she married Philip 2 of Spain. The coin can only date from 1553 to 1554 and shows the old battleaxe as a semi attractive younger woman (Maybe to lure a man). The coin has the inscription "Veritas Temporis Filia" - Truth is the daughter of time. My example is average, but generally problem free and a real bucket list coin for me.

Elizabeth and Edward VI coins are easy to find, but Bloody Mary takes some work.

Sounds like the "standard" you have around $10k or more of local money coming into or leaving a country, it needs to be declared. Its common here, people from a certain part of the world (I will not name where as I may get called a racist), but its "Oriental", love carrying like $20l, $50k etc of notes out of the country and don't declare it and they get in trouble.

Countries like Indonesia that ban old coins too, may not want them as they have no facilities to melt them down or make new coins out of them, due to alloyed metals of no usage in any thing else. Their whole currency is worthless like their biggest coin 1000 rupiah is worth like 8 cents and their biggest note, the 100000 rupiah is only worth like $8.

Cool, can't wait to see my "pile" arrive.

It will be cool if they are still making dollars in 2036 and then we will see 7 Kangaroos!

I have also noticed post counts have remained frozen. I have done at least 10 since the upgrade, but seem frozen on 259 posts. On KOTCT, they are counting normally.

Did you really put real gold coins in that album?

Not bad, like the presentation, but if you want some advice - you don't have to listen.

Type the notes on the pages, handwriting makes it look a wee bit untidy and less polished.

Maybe use a real album rather than paper as it may tone or get damaged from the weight of all the coins.
I did like the completeness though and the quality of your specimens. It was pretty much bling right the way through.

They will design a coin on anything now!  ;D

Still the worst I remember was a $1 coin from 2022 or 2023 showing a dinosaur with the name "Australialovenator"  ::)  :P  as it sounded like an automatic s@# machine made in Australia. I mean that is some made up a$$ names.  :o

Generally I am glad the coin mania has cooled a bit, the Mr Squiggles, Mr Wiggles, Mr Diggle and Mr Infantile designs were getting a bit much.

I was actually going to suggest a coin with bubblegum on it as I love the term "Bubblegum coins" and it turns out on of the Alphabet dollars (2019 I think) showed a Zooperdooper or some Australian bubblegum on it.

And yes I know I live in a country that can't even provide a coin from the 3rd decade of the 21st century let alone any bubblegum ones showing a theme like 1881 - NZ invents the lamington.

I just have the standard one, but how I got it was great, a dealer gave it to me as change at a stall at the Queensland show in August.

Its a nice coin, photo does not do it justice. I read each roo represents a decade of decimal currency, is that true?

Nice and what a year, the 1713 set also came with this.

Its my first ever set with case, I paid $500 for it and $700 for the 1713 set.

I have about 75 Maundy coins including 22 2ds, 18 4ds and 17 pennies, dating between 1822 and 1937 apart from the 1713's which are just usual coins put aside and Maundied out.

If it helps, a toned VF example of 1938 sold in the Mowbrays Auction in NZ for NZ$190.

The coin was a lot worse than the one I gave Trigg, but people wanted it.

My opinion is I love these crowns and its a shame they did not carry them on, it was a good silver coin and had over 26 grams of silver in it.

My own 1938 is a decent AU coin, I paid $325 for back in 2022, has natural lustre and actaully better than both of my 37's.

Trump's rules about posting to ther countries, high cost of slabbing, the fee,. postage and handling and long waits. Plus I don't like slabs.

On a positive note - the 1923 Halfpenny in the Mowbray Auction sold for $600 NZD
And a 1934 -35 Victoria Florin sold for $1750 in AU, but because it came with a very nice Foy and Gibson bag.

Lets revive this with an ancient classic

We have a hammered halfgroat of Charles II, third coinage, dates from around 1662
Would be VF if not for the worn portions on shiled. Coins were moving to milled at this time, but the small denominations had to wait until the end in the 1670s

This is my latest purchase, a Maundy set of coins from 1713.
Except they are likely just ordinary coins put asie for Muandy, all around EF and show years of careful polishing rather than deliberate cleaning in the late 20th century.

As you can see, insanely rare and beautiful coins from over 300 years.
