I have a bag of pennies somewhere, I will have a look for them tomorrow for you, if I find any they are yours, don't know what condition they are in.. I know there are 62 pennies, I will find you a pretty one :winkextra:

ausjack

Much appreciated, thanks AC..if you find one to send chuck in a coin that you like but isn't really worth much and I'll make you something as well :good:

i also have both
so if AC doesn't have the years - let me know
i am a big collector of the 1960's pennies and halfpennies so always have extras

do you know what grade you are after?
or colours?

ausjack

Sweet, thanks Robbie :good:

I want nice coins but don't have to be top of the pop as I'll be putting them in things like these and what ever else I can think of, and sorry for my crappy pic's but it come up pretty good so far :)

and this was just a bit of scrap..I can do a bit with scrap :good:

so will you bevel (is that the right word?) down and glue the coin in
which would mean that you only need one side of the coin to be looking attractive?
looks good to me

ausjack

For me one good side is fine and prefer the date being the good side thanks but if you'd like one, what ever side you'd like to show off and I have spade bits to put a little recess in and yes glue the little suckers in so it's not going anywhere as they might fall out other wise :good:

ok
so now i'd like to order a strong coat rack one
and have one penny one side and another the other side
a his and hers
the hook needs to be smooth so that it doesn't damage the coat

i'll send ya the '58 and '62 pennies

i always have my coat flung over the nearest chair
and it drives the hubby nuts

ps how would i fix it to a wall?

ausjack

I hope hubby calls ya 99 'cause that's bloody good thinkin mate :good: I was asked to make a little keyring holder but I might have to have a think about other things as well..thanks for the idea Robbie so leave it with me a few days and I'll see what I can come up with for hooks :)

Now, a few questions, how big would you like it and how many hooks..is it going to be permanent and how handy is hubby. And I just had a thought if it's his and her's, could you please send 4 coins, 2 with the years and 1 of KGV or VI for his and a Regina for you but it's just a thought :good:

The above keyring holder is about 23.5cm (9 1/4") x 6.2cm (2 1/2") and shouldn't have that much weight so I'm thinking about using double sided tape but will screw it to the wall if the tape doesn't work.

oh dear
just had the idea
now you're getting technical
we wear wool coats here so they are fair sized
the rack needs to have them hanging with some space space it might have to be a fair size
so i suppose it would be screwed or have the hanging thingees at the back to go onto screws in the wall?

another idea i had, is that coins in acrylic holders could be inserted
i.e. so you have the back half of the acrylic holder glued in the recess
and then you can put any coin of any year half-p or penny etc if you had the right sized inner ring
that way the coin isn't destroyed in the process
might be a tad more technical but it woul dgive you flexibility for orders - especially if the customer cancels the order and your're stuck with certain years etc

doesn't even need coins
I'd just like a handmade coat rack
that wood looks beautiful
this is how the coin looks the holder - top cover off and then top cover on - just pushes on

Oooo another good idea, thanks mate. So is it to go on a wall or behind the door? And it's scrap cypress pine left over from a rabbit hutch I made a freinds kid..it cost me about $40 to make and it's mostly solid hardwood and to buy one a quater of the size made from rubbish was $60 so my freind & kid are pretty happy with the new one and it has wire on the bottom to stop it getting out and the other one didn't..just so cheap and nasty but this one should last a really long time :good:

hey AJ I got some pic for you to look at what I found, ill email you soon, xx

ausjack

Cypress is one of the best unused timbers we have and leaves soft crappy pine for dead..here's a link if you'd like to read a little about it..and the woodchip is really good in the garden..it's pretty good stuff all round :good:  http://www.hardwood.timber.net.au/species/cypresspine.htm
