Sorry to have to say this but I wish to step away from paying for and hosting this forum.  Currently the forum is hosted on a dedicated linode server and the domain/ssl is managed by namecheap.  I am prepared to push the linode server and the domain to a new owner who is willing to take it over.

The new owner will be up for the following costs:

US$5/ month for the linode server
US$15/ year for the domain name
US$10/ year for the SSL certificate.

Alternatively, if someone has an available apache/mysql webserver I can send them the backup files and they can get it up and running there.  I'll push the domain to the new owner and they'll be up for the yearly domain costs and their own web-server costs.

If no-one comes forward who is interested this forum will go off-line forever on the 31st of October, 2026.

Thank you for keeping this site up & running in the past Mark, and I wish you and Kathryn all the best for the future, now that the Purple Penny has closed. Hopefully, someone who knows about this sort of stuff will step up and take over the site.

Agreed, thanks for running this for so long. I got my invite when RAM pulled the rug out of SYC (Shaping your collection from memory).
I'm not tech enough to consider even trying, let alone the $85 US a year to keep it up.
You could always try selling it on to one of those dodgy sites that fill it with adverts that have nothing to do with coin collecting.

Lets hope someone takes it on and keeps it running.

AtB to you both.

Nah, we wouldn't do that.

Thanks Mark for all of the time and effort that you have put into the forum.

I remember when the last one went tits-up and you put your hand up to start a new one.

Has been a brilliant ride.  Maybe something could be set up on Facebook just for us?

autocoupler

Agreed. A big thanks to Mark for his generous contribution over all the years. Has been an enjoyable and informative place to be involved, ever how slightly for me at least.

Yep, me no savvy enough to even contemplate any idea of taking on the forum.

:thank_you: Good luck to Mark and Kathryn in their future endeavors.
As we age we lose three things, one is our memory and arrrrr I\'ve forgotten the other two!

I think this is the best suggestion.  Facebook has the capability for private groups.  I understand some people don't have Facebook but moving forward forums like this one will disappear, and groups on Facebook will only become more popular.

There is also another forum, that doesn't get used much now, but is still active.
Some members here, are also members over there. It was a break away group from CCF.
Here is the link. Would love to see you guys over there, it might help to get it active again.

Thanks Steve, just signed up over there. Waiting for approval.

Looking forward to seeing you, and others, over there.

Also, TKO-100, the admin from KOTCT, has also just signed up here, with thoughts of taking on this site, to keep it going.

Thanks to Mark for having ACF going on for so many years. It would be sad if ACF goes silent. However, this is simply a sign of the times.
I will not join facebook. I just hate Meta and its ''children.'' It's bad enough that I had to join WhatsApp for work reasons. I even bought a second smartphone so that I do not have to use my (now) primary phone. Main reason and concern: privacy.
Anyway, the Castle is and would be a good place for those of us who still like forums -- if ACF stops.

Posted my first message at KotOR (I mean KotCT). I prefer the white background here but I'll get used to it.

If you go to the home page, and click on your name in the top left corner, to can go to account settings and change the look and layout. I also changed to the light mode, as I couldn't read the blue on black.

When you get time click on the history thread, and you can find out more of how we came to be.
You will also see other members in the members list, that are members here too, Humpybong, Nevol, Sap, Redlock & Kena.
