I had some coins graded by PCGS when I had the banknotes done.

This was the best of the coins.

Also the usual selection of Detail cleaned crowns and three that came with a PCGS recommendation of restoration.
Has anyone ever satisfactorily managed to have coins "restored" by PCGS?
If so, I'll be interested to hear your experiences.
Also had a set of 1887 Victoria Maundy Money. If anyone is interested let me know and I'll post their numbers in the World coins

section.

You must have been happy with the poppy dollar.
As we age we lose three things, one is our memory and arrrrr I\'ve forgotten the other two!

I'm sure I've seen some photos of a PCGS restored coin - I expected more (I think it was verdigris).

Definitely. I would have been satisfied with an MS68. A great buy considering it was $39. (plus grading of course).

2 of mine were ungraded because of pvc residue. Wondering if it is worth letting them "restore" them or they will just get a Details cleaned designation.

Wow, that was an excellent pick up, you didn't leave a zero off that did you ha ha. Even so, I've seen them at $800 and more for a slabbed 69.

No, that was accurate. Apparently when they issued the folders they had a heap left over and someone, no idea who, mentioned that you could buy two from the stockpile. I duly went in and paid for my two which turned up in the post. At that stage they were popular but not ridiculous. I sold one of mine and covered the cost and then some. Should have kept the other one as well.
On eBag an MS69 goes for stupid money. Even an MS68 they want over a thousand dollars for.
