site access latency

for the last couple of weeks it can take up to 30 seconds to access the site.
changing pages has the same dwell.
is there a site problem at the moment?

Thanks guys it is a puzzle as all other internet interactions are normal.
Normally the ACF site loads in about 1 second and changing pages within the site is instant.
Now there is a 5 to 10 seconds response in all actions.
This started about 2 weeks ago.
Access to hotmail, com bank, ebay, mygov, paypal, water, gas, austsuper and all that is unchanged and normal, loading in 1 second or less.
I did the usual re-set from black with the modem, no difference.
Strange.
Barry I'll have a trawl through the PC (windows) and see if there is any odd thing.

See if Task Manager shows anything running that is hogging resources. Sometime background processes can do that. Usually a reboot sorts them as they reload.i

Very curious i have just logged in using a completely separate wireless laptop with the same result.
A delay of about 10 seconds before loading.
Then a long pause when changing pages.
This laptop I am using right now is a stand alone I use when mobile and nothing to do with my home office network.

Jeff, task manager shows normal activity in both systems.
Both systems are cruising along all other connections normal.

My solution is to come back in a week and see if "it" has fixed itself!!!!

I had a problem with similar symptoms and could not find the cause.
Sorted it today but still don't know what caused it!
I will send you a message about what I did.

However, I think this is a network thing, something has changed between my area and the site area causing the latency.
I suspect the something is a wireless link as the only common thing between my home NBN network and my mobile laptop is wireless comes into it somewhere in the path.
The latency is now down to 5 seconds or so.
As nobody else reports a change, that points to an area problem.
All my Pc's are running normally with plenty of headroom and no other internet site access has changed.
Oddly I found one site ( vintage radio) that was always a bit snail slow now accesses in a 1 second and is rock steady!
Just one of those weird networky things.

Fred,
Does your router/modem have a choice of wireless frequencies, say 2.4 or 5GHz? Selecting the other one might help. Counterintuitive I know but the slower option can sometimes work better, depending on the devices.

P.S. I can remember a time, not that long ago, when we would have been thrilled with 5 seconds.

Perhaps an ethernet cable if your laptop and modem support it, and cut out that nasty wireless.

Cable can be good. I was running my printer from WiFi and it was very slow to respond and often gave me a "not connected" error message. Plugged it in with a USB cable and it now responds much more quickly and has not thrown a tantrum since.

Hi Greidon.
The office network is good old cat 6 wired ethernet.
Very old fashioned I know with blue cables serving points in rooms and the external workshops.
I have the wi-fi turned off at the NBN modem that serves the house.
The wireless i am referring to is external in the area 'out there'.
Both the house NBN LAN and the mobile laptop feed into 'systems' out there that now are a hodge podge of bits of wire here and GHz transmitters over there.
I am amazed it all works as there must be kludges and Band-Aids all over the place.
I keep repeating NOTHING has really changed in my PC's and mobile response EXCEPT the ACF forum access time.
That was the reason I asked that exact question about access time to the site.
We will never really know what the 'problem' is until somewhere something changes, hardware replaced, updates, whatever.
