Inherited Pre-decimal set

A friend of a friend has received these coins in an inheritance. 
Just wondering what sort of rough price they might be worth.
He wants to sell them as he has no interest in collecting. 
Let me know if you want any better images of any coins. 
I'm still waiting to find out if the coins not showing the year are just space fillers.

There is a 1923 half and a 1930 penny .. that is worth a few $$$$.. it is hard to grade coins based on photos, however it seems most are very well circulated coins making the value lower. Nice collection nonetheless...

I'm guessing the "1930" penny is a space filler. If you had one you would not show the obverse surely.

Other than the 1923 half and maybe the 1925 and 1946 pennies, which other coins should we pay close attention too?

He has taken them to the Perth coin show which is on now, and they have estimated up to about $1600. Does that seem about fair?

I think dealers retail would be over $3000.
A buy price of $1600 sounds a bit low to me.

Sounds a bit low to me as well, even though I don't collect many of these denominations. Early pennies (1911 to 1918) often go for $30 to $50 in fair condition. I imagine it is the same for sixpence, shillings and florins. Any that are nice would fetch a premium.
His 1934/35 florin doesn't look all that good but would still probably sell for $100 or more.
I think he should hold off for at least 2 grand if not 25 hundred.
If he put in the effort to break them up he might get more on eBag, but then he'd have to pay them too.

I have put together a decimal collection of all of the Queens circulation coins. And I think to myself "One day, will someone have it and ask 'anyone know what this is worth?' "

Like me, it probably took him a while to put it together, and perhaps even a labour of love. Mine was, and still is.

One day my collection too could be a  commodity in the hands of someone who isn't particularly interested in collecting coins. No wonder it can be hard to pass things down the family lime for more than a couple of generations.

I'm an in the same situation, but with world coins too. Neither of my kids are interested in coins or the wife for that matter.
I have over 18,000 different coins. What does one do with that when the time comes? I may have to start selling off before then.

Same. I've been seriously thinking about putting some of mine on eBag and see if anyone bites. Awful shame really. I'll start with foreign ones I guess.

Good collection. Find it funny they printed million plus minting figures for the 1923 halfpenny and 1930 penny.

A lot of the early silver looks cleaned and very worn - the shield and animals look like one blurred shape with most 10s and 20s silver.

The 1934 - 35 florin looks like a fake, rest is kosher.

Assuming the 1923 ½d and 1930 1d check out - $3k at least, if they don't $1500 and check the 1942 M 3d. Its a valuable coin when its better than Fine.
