i was wondering has anyone scored any bargains lately , as it seems everything goes for more than its worth now days , any thoughts

Basilstate

Yes,they are around but nothing like in the early days of Ebay, takes a person a few minutes to know what a Coin is worth these days.
Bulk Buys is still the best way to grab a bargain.

If you are using ebay as an example you have to keep looking systematically and you will find the bargains. It does take time and you
might have to buy from overseas but they keep coming out of the woodwork.Over the years I have bought hundreds of coins at a fraction
of their value but you have to do a comprehensive search every day if you can.The keener you are the more you'll find
It\'s not about who you know it\'s about what you know

Talking about bargains, these Sovereigns were listed yesterday morning,in the few minutes it took to transfer money into my PayPal CC they were gone.
In the old days of Ebay you could 'buy it now'  without immediate payment, unless the seller had ticked the ímmediate payment' box, a much fairer system.
Still could be a scam of some sort, seller must know,if he/she spent 5 minutes on Google, they are grossly under market value.
He/She might need quick money but there are other possibilities, stolen goods, photo's only,Coins don't exist like the laptop scam from a few years back,etc...

Stevo is right. You need to check regularly and systematically in the hunt for bargains. They are harder to find but they still exist; picked up a '36 sixpence in Unc for $9 a month back and an EF 1934 overdate sixpence for $13 the month before that. It also helps if you are knowledgeable about the coins you are looking at to know when a coin is a bargain and when it is overpriced

Do bargains still exist ?
Yes, there are more than ever.

stevo1962

Actually I have bought plenty of Echidna's ebay bargains over the years and i think he would be surprised at how high some
of them have graded at PCGS

Thank you my friend, I wish the same back 10 fold :-)

Ha, I scored better than youse. Centenary florin ebay item 275088064744 for $20 BIN. Not perfect but not a fake and not cleaned. Literally $9 over bullion and probably a $200 coin.
But by the same token I've noticed that very high grades are almost impossible to obtain and when they come up they are at least 50% more than 2 years ago.
