Well for me it's be a lifetime thing, hoping you're watching an enjoying. Gee they should have put Scomo on a 300kph car .... :-)

When I was in a car club, aeons ago, used to go every year and camp inside, behind the pits. There for the duration and usually scored a job that gave me a good viewpoint but restricted to a particular part of the track. After that I haven't been much and only as another spectator even though Bathurst is not far from here.

Today I was doing some rewiring, extra power points etc. in a room that is getting a fair bit of work next week -have to have that done before the carpenter comes. There is a TV in the room but, of course, I had to have the power off so no TV for me. [I have done such work live before but not keen on it.]
Anyway finished now except for a bit of clean up and putting tools away. So cracked a tinnie, TV on and will see the run to the finish.
Thinking is dangerous, it makes you think. That\'s why many people avoid it.

I did not watch or listen to the race.
As I work for Repco, I have heard nothing but Bathurst for the last year.
I am sick of hearing about it. :(
Glad it's over.

...me as well, lifelong fan of Bathurst & Tintops in general but having trouble liking the Supercabs, each year it becomes closer to Stockcar racing.
I hope the organisers can get the 'öff the showroom floor' Bathurst Race going in the next couple of years, that will be worth watching.

:laugh2: ...... love it Steve ...... I guess it all starts with the parts ....... ROFL. Yes Jeff, the live stuff gets a tad concerning eh!!!! Bring back the 70's Basil and we'll have some good viewing! Imagine what today's cameras would have presented us with back then!!!!!! Lot's of body roll pics, but gee it would have been good!!!!

Yes Basil, production cars much more interesting. The current V8s using same transmission, brakes and suspension, regardless of make and, with the Mustang, not even a factory bodyshell plus 'parity' rules make it just like a sedan version of Formula Ford.

No more "win on Sunday, sell on Monday".

Yes Jeff, couple of big boffins from "Ford Performance" Detroit were at Bathurst,i don't think they would have been be too happy.
Also a bit of disquiet about the speed of the winning car,and this started Thursday or Friday from rival 'Holden' teams.
Interesting to see if it still bubbling along after Xmas.

I was front and centre as usual with six pack in the fridge and nibbles provided by #1. Been many a year since I have missed a Bathurst.

Must admit the interest level has gradually declined over the past 25 years with the race starting to resemble NASCAR, only difference it's not an oval, with the Mt Panorama circuit itself being the main attraction.

My main bugbear is the Safety Car situation. If you have a fast car / team, not much incentive to build a lead, you're back to the pack the minute some clown bogs in a sand pit or an
Echidna runs on the track. I couldn't help but think the W. A. border must be open.  :winkextra:

It was good to see the best car / team actually win on the day despite the usual Safety Car interventions instigated by predictable late afternoon prangs which then of course means a 20 lap sprint to the line. Happens every year.

Was watching the Formula 1 the other night, instead of a Safety Car getting involved each time there was a minor incident, they instigated what they referred to as a Virtual Safety Car.
Yellow flashing lights would illuminate around the course and drivers had to immediately reduce speed to a predetermined level, not overtake or improve their position. Made sense to me, but I guess not if orchestrating a close finish is the goal.
As we age we lose three things, one is our memory and arrrrr I've forgotten the other two!

Yes,good rule, its been around for the last 2 or 3 years and usually works well and most importantly is fair to everybody including the Marshalls that have to run onto the track to aid a crashed driver or pick up car bits off the track.
