While metal detecting recently, I dug up two 1985 $1 coins.  One had the Machin portrait and the other, the Maklouf.  All the references I can find state that minting of the former ceased in 1984.  Can someone please confirm both coins were minted in 1985.  If so, is one rarer than the other?  Many thanks.

Sorry all .... while cleaning as lightly as I could with a brush for photos, I realised my mistake.  I was looking at a relatively uncirculated coin and a very well circulated one.
Both are Maklouf portraits.  They looked so different to me that I was convinced they were by different engravers.
I'm disappointed as I'd been thinking that when a coin is lost, by definition, it goes out of circulation.  Rare coins, therefore, might be among those found later.
