Put the odds into perspective. Of 15 million under 18 in the UK over 3 million were infected. 37 died of whom 31 had significant health issues. So if 100% had caught the bug the death toll would have been maybe 150. In the same time 134 kids commuted suicide, a big rise and what is worse is that the lockdown/social isolation and interrupted schooling have had negative and often permanent effects on millions more. So don't blame the bug, blame the arseholes who push for lockdowns. Unhealthy fat slobs who push their fears onto others.
If the vaccine works and you have had your jab then WTF do you concern yourselves with those who choose not to? If you are vaccinated then you are safe? Yes/No? And if the vaccine doesn't protect you then why are you pushing it?
You can take your risk with negative long term risks as the trial group and I'll take mine as the control group. BTW I was in a hotspot last year for 5 months that had thousands a day infected, so I probably already have naturally aquired immunity and the T cell protection lasts decades. You will need a booster every 6 months, have fun with that.

People not getting vaccinated give our politicians an easy out, where the political leaders keep us locked indoors, increase youth suicide and keep wasting tax payers money.

Anti-vaxxers are causing it, but they can't see past their own self interest.

Get the jab to end the lockdown

Crikey! I seemed to have caused a bit of a kerfuffle!
Interesting things written by people.
I am just cranky with people that wont get the jab, wont isolate, and come up with 1000 moronic reasons as to why they cant.

Seedyrom, I agree with all the things you say in post #73.
You are close to people dying and it shows in your passion, same here, family members work in cancer wards, pallitive care, and of late, Covid wards.
There, death is part of life sadly.
I have been at the patient end of things, close to death via cancer and heart lung disease I can report they are tough gigs to play.
Morons that dismiss the effects of covid should play that tough gig where you have no strength to stand and cannot breath and have a tube stuck down your throat to keep you alive.
THAT gives you a black and white perspective about things!

Am I a self centered arsehole?
You bet!
Particularly with clowns that simply do not know what they are talking about!

The whole thing comes down to a philosophy :
Whether you just accept these virus diseases and let them circulate freely and trim the herd or whether you fight and use any tools available to mitigate them.
I go for the latter and if that makes me a "self centred arsehole" so be it!
Proponents of the former philosophy tend to change their tune when a wife or child dies!
I am not ready to be trimmed yet.
Fred.

The disconnect is strong in you. The politicians are the Aholes causing the freaking lockdowns but you blame those that the politicians want to scapegoat?
How about blaming the politicians for the mess that they created.
They had 16 months to set up proper quarantine facilities but instead continue to use poorly designed hotels in the cities.
They could have insisted that foreign airline crews remain on their plane and have a relief crew on board to fly the return leg. But no, they have them driven into local accomodation to infect locals (such as their driver in this outbreak).
They could work out the lockdown better. 2 days ago I lent a Kenyan friend money to live on for the next few months. Poor bugger is on a visa so he is ineligible for the dole and his casual work means he also misses out on the $750. So to eke out his money he was going to 5 or more shops daily to see which has the cheapest markdown food. Multiply him by thousands of others just like him and that is how many unnecessary contacts?
And for those who want the jab could they have botched the rollout any worse than they have?

I'm wondering if any of you have looked at the all cause death rate in the US? It is running significantly higher so far this year compared to last year.
Corona deaths are down overall, the deaths from corona are higher in the unvaccinated compared to the vaccinated but the all cause rate is up for both vaccinated and unvaccinated. The rate seems to be higher in the vaccinated
Two likely reasons:
1 Those with illnesses, comorbidities and the aged/ infirm are both more likely to get vaccinated and naturally have a higher death rate (so vaccination correlation not causation).
2 The vaccine has caused an increase in deaths (causation).
Figures are still early and rough so a better understanding should come in a few months.

I love these pollies saying Get your jab. I'm still waiting. My appointment made early last month is the 23rd of September. I'm trying other methods but no luck so far.
Registered on the Queensland Health website for one of theirs. My wife and I registered within 4 minutes of each other, mine was completed before her. She has now had her first one and her second is the 31st of August. What about mine?
Apparently they sort people into "buckets" and only certain buckets get priority.
Why a 59 year old female with no health issues gets priority over a 59 year old male with arterial blockages, your guess is as good as mine.
So meanwhile I wait.
Luckily I like being at home.

Hi Basil....yeh I guess so............but right in the middle of restoring, not a car, but a 10Kva 3phase Generating Set!
Something I made up about 50 years ago and not engineered very well at all.

Lots to re do, re build the centrifugal governor and Zenith carby, rebuild rotted Gates water pump, Lucas dissy.........................the list is endless on the engine.
And then there is the Alternator, re-engineer the voltage regulator and switchboard........skim sliprings and commutator...........lots to do.
There is machining parts, welding brackets, designing stuff..................fantastic.

Actually beats the crap out of coins in some respects, although......you may see some "engineering" stuff finally in CAB.
Thats where I machined up and fitted a new rim to a 1923 halfpenny.
Bit of a "coin resto" there, and sure to get the purists gagging on their lattes and martinis!

Hello Fred, you must be REALLY cranky with me?
Doubt many on this forum have been to Israel or follow their news (I have andI do) but they have a very high jab rate (about the worlds highest and enough to make Gladys swoon). Anyhow Channel 13 interviewed Dr Kobi Havav about the surge in infections. He stated that 80-85% of patients are  fully immunised and they are 95% of the severe cases.

Coin collecting commandment #1 "Thou shalt not 'clean' coins." Nothing there about deconstructing/reconstructing them.
Thinking is dangerous, it makes you think. That\'s why many people avoid it.

JeffH

That's interesting information about Dr Kobi Havav. More information on those figures he stated please.

Google has never heard of him. Neither have Israeli health and government websites.
If vaccination status details of Covid cases in Israel are available I haven't been able to find them.

What is channel 13?

Sorry Jefff, blame my fat finger when typing on a phone. Kobi Haviv is the correct spelling. He is head of the Herzog rehabilitation hospital in Jerusalem.
And channel 13 is a tv channel in Israel.
